Overview

Business Development Director 

Publicis Growth Creative, US 

The Business Development Director reports to a Vice President, New Business and is part of Publicis Groupe Creative's US Growth Hub. Publicis Creative agencies include: BBH, Fallon, Leo NY, Leo Chicago, The Community, Le Pub, Saatchi NY, Saatchi LA, Team One, Turner Duckworth, and MSL. This person is responsible for pitching, prospecting support, management of agency brands, and the growth and development of junior team members. 

The Growth Hub is the engine that drives growth that helps grow our US Creative client list, reputation, culture, portfolio and bottom line. It's a high-functioning, quick-thinking, tight-knit group of thinkers and doers who move at the breakneck speed of new business to tell our agency narratives, build relationships, solve problems and win pitches.  

Responsibilities
  • Assist in fielding and vetting new prospect calls and emails.
  • Conduct background research on prospective clients and agency competitors.
  • Work with the Growth Hub team members to help determine winning strategy, team casting, and commercial approach for each prospect/pitch assigned.
  • Lead the work with each pitch team to develop and refine the pitch deck content, coordinate leave-behind materials and any unique presentation/meeting needs.
  • Assist editorial writer in creating and cataloguing new business content, such as helping to write and gather assets for case studies, agency reels and videos, RFI/RFP responses, etc.
  • Work closely with public relations/communications personnel to ensure the agency story and voice carries through all public materials and lends to growth strategies.
  • Coordinate with presentation designers to ensure the proper look and feel is developed for the materials associated with each pitch.
  • Handle the operational intricacies and fast-moving nature of the process including setting up timelines, tracking the budget, communicating information to the team and managing the workflow.
  • Manage Business Development Account Executive.
  • Track and report new business wins and losses.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • This is a hybrid position based in NYC (375 Hudson) with some travel for pitches and conferences 

As Business Development Director, you're entrusted to lead a live new biz opportunity from beginning to end. This means managing the people and the content. You'll vet the opportunity, craft the proposal, devise a plan to win and shepherd the pitch from kickoff to closing. You'll have a lot of help from the Growth Hub (as well as from the pitch team you helped cast), but you're the glue who keeps the ball moving and the team together. You're the first one to do background research on a new client, setting us up for smart recommendations and smarter content. You also make the trains run on time (and they're fast trains) by owning crucial operational intricacies like setting up timelines, tracking the budget and keeping the team in sync.  

This means early line of sight on all growth initiatives with a chance to impact decisions and accelerate the process. You'll have a dedicated PR partner, with whom you'll work hand in hand to ensure the reputation of agency brands are being fostered and driven for growth results. Qualifications
  • You've got at least8+years of experience in the ad industry and at least 2 in business development or you are a growth-minded account person with experience working on new business pitches 
  • You know how to use Google Docs and Microsoft Office programs. (And Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, iMovie and Final Cut are major pluses). 
  • You've got a Bachelor's degree - ideally in marketing, communications, advertising or related field.
  • You're ready to roll up your sleeves and design beautiful solutions with some of the most driven people in the business.

Compensation Range: $95,950.00 - $150,995.00 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
