Job description

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Lawyer Recruiting and Development Assistant in the New York office. This position performs work of a complex nature with a high degree of proficiency. Responsible for providing administrative support to the Lawyer Recruiting and Development ("LRD") team, as directed by the Chief Lawyer Recruiting and Development and LRD senior leadership. Provides firm-wide support for departmental special projects. Works in conjunction with other members of the LRD team to support team administrative functions firmwide. Maintains confidentiality of information, both written and documented.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of administrative responsibilities for Chief Lawyer Recruiting and Development Partner and LRD team management, including meeting, travel and event coordination, teleconferencing and equipment set-up, shipment/distribution of materials, and other meeting and/or event logistics.
2. Prepares and submits timely manual and electronic expense reimbursement and other payment requests for LRD team management; understands and follows firm policies and procedures, coding and approval requirements related to firm charges; anticipates needs and proactively seeks to avoid rush and emergency payment requests.
3. Drafts/edits complex correspondence and other documents as instructed, and maintains documents appropriately in iManage. Works with IT to update the structure and security levels in iManage as instructed by the team management. Maintains confidentiality of information, both written and documented.
4. Prepares, formats, proofreads, compiles, and distributes agendas, reports, presentations, memoranda, evaluations, correspondence, and other confidential materials.
5. Provides support to the Chief Lawyer Recruiting and Development Partner, Associate Director Lawyer Resources, Talent Development Managers on monitoring and tracking lawyer development and implementing programs and initiatives to support lawyer development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Experience: In a professional services office or other legal support experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
Other Qualifications: Exceptional written and verbal communication and listening skills. Accurate typing, word processing skills and ability to pay strict attention to detail. Spelling, punctuation and use of grammar must be of high quality. Must have strong organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and moderate or advanced keyboard usage. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through both written and oral communications. Ability to lift, carry, reach, stoop or bend, at times repetitively, for tasks involving filing or movement of files/supplies weighing up to 5-10 pounds. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. Ability to maintain flexibility regarding work assignments to work overtime on short notice required. Ability to work in a cooperative manner as a member of a team. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the abilities or aptitudes to proficiently perform each of the responsibilities and accountabilities described above, with or without reasonable accommodation.
The expected salary range for New York City is $66,500 to $83,000, though salaries for employees based outside of New York City may differ.
