Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable project accountant to assist with the onsite accounting needs. This role will be working closely with project leadership and various internal/external departments. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver and a strong team-focused attitude. This position will be fully at the project site(s), primarily located near Amarillo, Texas. Travel to multiple jobsites located in Texas may be required. 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for processing subcontractor billings and all material invoices for the project.

    Includes the review of and entry of a high volume of subcontractor/vendor invoices

    Reading through contracts and ensuring invoices received are aligned with executed contracts

  • Support corporate craft payroll department in the processing of union payroll) new hire paperwork, time entry, payroll check processing, etc.)
  • Support other departmental projects, data requests, compliance requirements as needed.
  • Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with both internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

Position Related Skills

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with Docusign and Smartsheets also preferred
  • Working knowledge of JDE or similar ERP platform preferred. Working knowledge of Elation Systems and certified payroll compliance/submission preferred.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a large professional setting. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.

Professional Experience and Education

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field preferred.


EXPERIENCE

  • At least three (3) years of accounting and/or office management experience in the construction, engineering, or architectural field required.
  • Experience with cost accounting, AP/AR functions, contract administration, invoice processing/auditing, and its relationship within the construction industry.
  • Experience in similar accounting role within the construction industry is preferred.


Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: workday is combination of standing, walking and sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of day.
  • Hands/Arms: constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.
  • Sight: visual acuity in near, mid, and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing: sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
  • Speech: sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 20lbs. Computer/drawings - minimal.
  • Bending/Twisting: minimal.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal.
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and critical thinking skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work.
