Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Calvert City, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Project Management: Manage 7+ concurrent capital projects valued up to $1MM, overseeing scope, budget, schedule, and execution from concept through startup.
  • Planning and Feasibility: Analyze operational issues, develop project scopes, estimate costs, and evaluate feasibility to support sound investment decisions.
  • Capital Authorization and Procurement: Prepare Authority for Expenditures, write contractor bid packages, and issue material requisitions.
  • Vendor and Contractor Oversight: Manage outside engineering services and supervise construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
  • Budget and Schedule Control: Monitor project costs and timelines to achieve budget targets and meet project milestones.
  • Operations and Startup Support: Lead projects across processing operations and plant infrastructure, assisting with startups and handoffs to operations teams.
  • Standards and Code Compliance: Apply corporate and plant standards, along with applicable engineering codes, to the design of equipment and systems.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10+ years in Project Engineering or Project Construction in an industrial environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times.
  • The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions, and creating the new and different

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • CAD software
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, PSM, CMMS systems, and cGMP
  • Project Management certifications
