Job description

About the Role
Uber is seeking a Product Developer to lead the development of our charging and maintenance infrastructure for autonomous vehicles. This role will focus on site acquisition for fast charging stations and maintenance depots in core city centers across the Central US region. From identifying and sourcing real estate opportunities to negotiating leases or purchase agreements and handing projects off to design and construction teams, the Product Developer will be responsible for driving projects from start to finish.
This is a cross-functional role that requires working closely with internal teams-including design, operations, legal, policy, and engineering-as well as external stakeholders such as landlords, utilities, city agencies, contractors, and AV Tech partners. The ideal candidate combines real estate, contract negotiation, and infrastructure development experience with strong organizational and communication skills.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of potential new charging and depot sites in alignment with Uber's strategy.
  • Conduct and refine comprehensive site due diligence, including zoning, utility access, permitting, and financial feasibility.
  • Lead contract negotiations with landlords, property owners, and public/private partners.
  • Partner with attorneys to draft, negotiate, and execute site agreements (lease or purchase).
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams to evaluate installation costs, optimize layouts, and manage project hand-off.
  • Accurately forecast milestones and maintain documentation of project progress.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Anticipate risks and proactively resolve challenges that could impact project timelines or costs.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in real estate development, infrastructure deployment, project management, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in site acquisition, contract negotiation, and lease/purchase agreements.
  • Strong understanding of permitting, utility planning, and real estate development processes.
  • Experience managing 20+ concurrent projects with complex stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to engage confidently with executives, landlords, utility partners, city officials, and contractors.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently (up to 50% within the Central US region).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with charging infrastructure, EV policy, utilities, or autonomous vehicle technologies.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a large, complex organization.
  • Prior exposure to site development for mobility or transportation infrastructure.
