About this Role
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our fast-paced EPC team supporting projects across the power sector, including gas turbines, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission systems. In this role, you will create precise electrical designs and construction packages that drive project success while ensuring quality, accuracy, and seamless coordination across engineering disciplines.
What You'll Do
  • Produce electrical installation details, MCC single-line diagrams, motor elementary diagrams, electrical room layouts, cable schedules, power plans, lighting plans, and grounding layouts
  • Perform calculations for lighting levels, voltage drop, conduit and tray fill, wire and conduit sizing, and overcurrent protection
  • Determine motor control center and substation loading requirements
  • Develop accurate installation documents and design packages from vendor drawings and engineering specifications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and constructible project designs
  • Support field verification activities and provide onsite support during construction, startup, and commissioning phases
  • Assist with cost estimation, material take-offs, and project scheduling support
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
  • Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of electrical design experience, preferably within EPC and power industry environments
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical construction practices
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D required, 3D preferred), Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of electrical materials, systems, and installation methods
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within in-office and virtual project teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting power generation, renewable energy, substations, transmission, or industrial infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with design-build project execution and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage power system design
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices
