Project Controls Interns are entry-level professionals who assist in planning, monitoring, and controlling projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Job description

Hands-on HR experience. Real impact. Career-building skills.
Looking to turn your HR coursework into real-world experience? As an HR Graduate Intern, you'll work closely with our HR team to support meaningful people initiatives, gain exposure to core HR operations, and build skills you'll actually use in your career - all while being supported by an experienced HR Manager.
This is a great opportunity to learn how HR works inside a large organization, contribute to impactful projects, and grow your professional confidence.
What You'll Be Doing:
You won't be stuck just observing - this role is about doing, learning, and growing.
  • Support day-to-day HR operations for our Business Unit or Headquarters teams
  • Use HR systems and tools to process employee data and ensure accuracy
  • Help with HR projects and company-wide people initiatives
  • Create reports and dashboards to support HR and leadership requests
  • Assist with HR audits and documentation when needed
  • Help plan and coordinate HR meetings, events, and leadership sessions
  • Track engagement survey results and help build action plans leaders can use
  • Create training materials and presentations for leadership calls
  • Support retention, succession planning, and career development initiatives
  • Analyze people data and turn it into insights and presentations
  • Jump in on additional projects as they come up-no two weeks look the same!

What You'll Learn:
  • How HR supports employees and leaders across a large organization
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems, reporting, and analytics
  • How HR leaders use data to improve engagement and retention
  • Professional communication, project management, and stakeholder support
  • What it's really like to build a career in HR

What We're Looking For:
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level Human Resources program
  • Friendly, approachable, and comfortable working with different teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, proactive, and not afraid to ask questions
  • Able to work independently with guidance and feedback
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel, including Pivot Tables & VLOOKUPs)
  • Available to work 15-40 hours per week
  • Located in the Milwaukee area and able to work in-office
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Why This Internship Matters:
  • Real HR work - not just busywork
  • Resume-building experience with exposure to leadership
  • Mentorship from HR professionals
  • A chance to explore different areas of HR before graduation
  • Skills that transfer directly into post-grad HR roles

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19.00 - $29.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. For details, please visit the About Us tab on the Johnson Controls Careers site at https://jobs.johnsoncontrols.com/about-us.
