Description
Markon is seeking a Project Control Specialist IV that is responsible for managing and overseeing the development, procurement, fielding, sustainment, and retirement of equipment and military capabilities in support of Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role ensures program execution aligns with established plans, schedules, budgets, and performance baselines while supporting mission objectives. The Project Control Specialist IV provides leadership and guidance to project control personnel, collaborates across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and delivers program status updates and recommendations to project managers and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor program cost, schedule, performance, and risk metrics to ensure successful execution of program objectives.
  • Analyze program requirements and evaluate the impact of missed, delayed, or inadequate deliverables on overall program performance and milestones.
  • Support the planning, development, procurement, fielding, sustainment, and retirement of military systems, equipment, and capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, program plans, DoD policies, directives, and established program baselines.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, performance metrics, risk registers, and status reports.
  • Coordinate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), engineering, logistics, acquisition, and program management personnel.
  • Prepare and communicate program status, risks, issues, and recommendations to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Ensure all program documentation, records, and artifacts are produced, maintained, and stored in accordance with organizational and DoD requirements.
  • Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to subordinate Project Control Specialists and support staff.

Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field and twelve (12) years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent and sixteen (16) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of position-specific experience supporting project controls, program management, acquisition, or related DoD programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing program cost, schedule, performance, and risk.
  • Experience supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and cross-functional program environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present program status reports to leadership and stakeholders.

Work Environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced government and defense contracting environment.
  • May require collaboration with government customers, contractors, and cross-functional teams in both onsite and hybrid settings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense acquisition programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD policies, directives, and program management frameworks.
  • Experience using project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent professional certification.

Salary Range
USD $150,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
