Job description

RS&H is currently seeking an Associate Project Director for our Transportation Practice in our Orlando, FL office! 

As part of the Infrastructure team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by conforming medium to large projects to the client's requirements, meeting scheduled milestone dates, internal and external budget constraints, and participating in the selection of subconsultants and delivery of a quality project. This position will determine the needs and expectations of the client and oversees the project to ensure all needs are met, including establishing and communicating project requirements and ensuring the team delivers a final product which meets the requirements and maintains client satisfaction; develop a detailed scope of work, budget, and schedule; provide ongoing communication to the project team, ensuring objectives are clear; direct the project team through all phases of the project to achieve the desired results within the established budget and schedule; negotiate scope and fee with the client under the guidance/direction of a project officer; recommend alternative solutions if project objectives cannot be achieved and contractual obligations cannot be met; serve as a point of contact for the client and the liaison with the project team throughout the duration of the project, including providing regular status updates; provide technical direction and coordination of the project team; provide an exceptional client experience to support marketing efforts to secure repeat business from existing clients and work from new clients; and identify problems with the production and delivery process and participate in efforts to affect improvements. This position may also provide mentorship and guidance to junior project managers and may serve as the primary owner for project quality planning and quality control.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited program and 12 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer is preferred.  
  • Have a passion for project management. PMP certification is preferred.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office. 
  • Possess strong attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership.
  • Be able to multi-task, prioritize workload, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and understand people in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Possess the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, demonstrate professional courage, and guide and influence others.
