Job description

Responsibilities
ECS is seeking a Facilities Senior Project Associate to join our FloridaBuilding Science & Infrastructure team in Daytona, FL. The Senior Project Associate is responsible for providing technical leadership and project management for facilities assessment projects. This is a client-facing role with daily involvement with clients, project teams (e.g., architects, general contractors, engineers, owners) and heavy involvement in project execution and junior staff development. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of building science & infrastructure related testing and consulting services
  • Collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects and actively mentor junior staff to support the overall development of the team
  • Coordinate and lead project meetings, providing solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary
  • Prepare building science & infrastructure reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations. Interpret test results, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions
  • Lead client meetings and/or calls to present and discuss report findings and conclusions
  • Oversee preparation and review of reports from junior staff prior to Principal review and provide final sign off where approved
  • Direct project set up and implementation with junior staff and ensure appropriately trained and experienced staff are assigned
  • Oversee building science & infrastructure projects and assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff while managing several projects simultaneously
  • Possess exceptional technical writing skills with regard to spelling, grammar, and professional content/tone. Understand and utilize standard industry terms and terminology. Proofread written work and perform peer reviews of colleagues' reports focusing on grammar, spelling, report content, and the validity of conclusions

Business Development & Client Engagement:
  • Market ECS services and maintain and further develop the client database
  • Host or attend project discussions with clients and follow up on reports to determine if there are questions

Project Management & Oversight:
  • Manage project budgets and prepare change orders. Oversee project budgets of others as assigned and review change orders and invoices. Assist with collection efforts and guide junior staff on how to communicate testing and/or budget concerns
  • Prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders

Team Leadership:
  • Schedule, train, and supervise subordinate staff members
  • Collaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions and maintain appropriate staff levels

Facilities Assessment Responsibilities:
  • Perform property/facility condition assessments, facility needs assessments, pre- and post-construction surveys, accessibility assessments, and other facilities-related services. May perform senior review of these services and supervise staff completing this work
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of buildings and building systems (MEP, FLS, etc.) and experience with data collection
  • Perform property condition assessments, document review, and report preparation. May perform senior review of these services
  • Review reports produced by field staff and perform routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress. Communicate project milestones with clients and advise on significant changes
  • Maintain knowledge of ASTM Standard E2018 and applicable building codes
  • Perform pre- and post-construction surveys, including documenting target properties and maintaining photo archives. May supervise staff completing these surveys
  • Perform Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), including assessment management, data collection, inventory/database management, remaining useful life analysis, cost estimates, and capital planning updates. May lead FCA teams
  • Direct field work performed by subcontractors, ECS technicians, and other field staff while managing multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications

  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering Architecture (NCARB), Civil (Structural) Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Licensure or certifications may be required depending on the type of work performed
