Job description

Project Engineer
Our Massachusetts based civil construction client that build and improves highway and runway infrastructure is looking to add a Project Engineer to their team. The candidate will prepare detailed CAD drawings including site layouts and surface models for construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting Project Managers and Estimators bidding construction projects.
Manages construction project CAD files
The Project Engineer is involved with field work and may perform GPS Survey and layouts on job sites. This position also performs routine design work requiring the application of standard civil engineering principles, design techniques, procedures and criteria in the assigned technical areas.
Job Functions:
• Utilizes AutoCAD to transform engineering CAD/PDF drawings into working documents (DXF files) for GPS and construction equipment; prepares as-built CAD drawings, sets up surface models, calculate cut/fill quantities, measure lengths and areas, and assists with GPS localization.
• Prepares complete construction DXF, surface, and point files anticipating project needs and deliverables.
• Reviews CAD and PDF drawings sent from design firms to determine if survey control and point data are accurate and present.
• Generates control point files for GPS layout and localization.
• Assists survey field crews with data downloads and uploads.
• Manages construction project CAD files and ensures that all revisions are tracked and updated in the field. • Performs quantity take offs and other engineering functions in support of cost estimates.
• Provides GPS field survey and field layout for civil construction projects. Reviews construction plans and performs layout calculations. Performs field verification with plan data. Provides structure layouts, collects as-built data, and delivers final sketches. Establish both horizontal and vertical control network. Provides plan project baselines, offset baselines, control lines and field ties.
• Complies with company's safety policies and adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations. Non-essential Functions:
• Participates in professional development opportunities and training courses. Engages with other company personnel to expand personal knowledge and experience.
• Participates in the mentoring and training of other employees.
• Performs other work as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Computer Drafting or Engineering Technology plus two (2) years of relevant experience in CAD, estimating, land surveying and/or field operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
• AutoCAD experience in civil work is high desired. AutoCAD Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
• Prior survey experience is a plus.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bid2Win, and Agtek Earthworks is a plus. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 is preferred).
Knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage and other utilities.

Contract to Hire Hourly Rate Range: $40.86-$43.27
