Full-time

Job description

We are designers of storied places.

OBMI is a global master planning, architecture, and interior design practice shaping luxury resorts, boutique hotels, private residences, and mixed-use destinations around the world.

For more than 90 years, we have created places deeply rooted in land, culture, and emotion, balancing imagination, craft, and care.

With studios in Miami, London, Dubai, and KSA, we collaborate globally to deliver holistic, experiential environments across the Middle East, the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond. Clients see us as trusted advisors, drawn to our belief in thoughtful design, long-term value, and spaces that are both innovative and sustainable.

Our Miami studio is growing, and we are seeking a Project Architect / Technical Designer to join our Architecture team. As part of our team, you will contribute to a wide range of international projects — focusing on hospitality led projects — within a busy and collaborative studio.

About the Role

The Project Architect / Technical Designer plays a critical role in translating architectural design into clear, coordinated, and buildable technical solutions.

Working closely with design leaders, project managers, and consultants, you will guide the technical development and documentation of projects from concept through construction.

This role ensures that design intent is carried through all technical phases while maintaining the highest standards for constructability, coordination, and regulatory compliance.

You will serve as a technical leader within project teams, mentoring junior staff while ensuring that documentation, BIM coordination, and consultant integration meet OBMI’s quality standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development of technical documentation and construction drawing packages
  • Translate design concepts into buildable architectural solutions
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, landscape, and interior consultants
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and manage BIM models and coordinated documentation in Revit
  • Maintain organized and accurate drawing sets, documentation logs, and revision histories
  • Prepare and coordinate permit submission packages
  • Track project milestones and coordinate documentation across project phases
  • Review and coordinate consultant models and drawings
  • Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with OBMI standards
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
  • Support construction phases through shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site coordination

Who We’re Looking For

  • We’re seeking a technically strong architect who thrives on solving complex design challenges and delivering precise, coordinated architectural documentation.

You are:

  • Equipped with 9–11 years of professional architectural experience
  • Holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • A licensed or registered architect (AIA, RIBA, ARB, or equivalent preferred)
  • Experienced in technical coordination and construction documentation
  • Knowledgeable in building systems, construction methods, and regulatory frameworks
  • Highly proficient in Revit and BIM-based workflows
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experienced coordinating with multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Familiar with hospitality or destination-driven design projects
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong quality control standards
  • A collaborative professional who communicates clearly and mentors junior team members

Why OBMI

You’ll join a globally recognized design practice known for shaping distinctive destinations and hospitality environments around the world. At OBMI, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on complex international hospitality and mixed-use projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across global studios
  • Lead the technical realization of ambitious design visions
  • Continue developing your technical leadership and professional expertise

Location: Miami, Florida
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
