Job Overview – Project Accounting Manager

Compensation: $120,000 – $135,000/year + bonus

Location: Chester County, PA

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)


Atlantic Group is hiring a Project Accounting Manager in Chester County, PA for our client. This leadership role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and financial analysis within a project-based organization. The Project Accounting Manager will partner with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting, strengthen accounting processes, and provide financial insights that support business performance. The ideal candidate has progressive accounting experience, strong project accounting knowledge, and a hands-on approach to financial operations and process improvement.


Responsibilities as the Project Accounting Manager:

  • Financial Reporting: Lead financial close activities and ensure accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Project Accounting: Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and related financial activities.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze project performance, costs, forecasts, and financial results to support business decisions.
  • Accounting Operations: Manage core accounting activities and ensure accurate, timely financial information across the organization.
  • Controls & Processes: Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, operations, and external stakeholders to support accounting, reporting, and broader business initiatives.


Qualifications for the Project Accounting Manager:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including project accounting experience, is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with construction or project-based accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting, is required.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems are required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, improve accounting processes, and collaborate effectively across teams.
