As Nox Group continues to grow, we are evolving our Project Accounting organization by expanding from one Director of Project Accounting to two. This position will serve as the Director of Project Accounting for Corbins and partner closely with the Director of Project Accounting for RMCI to ensure consistent financial leadership, standardized processes, and operational excellence across the enterprise. Together, these leaders will shape the strategic direction of Project Accounting by developing high-performing teams, partnering with Operations and Executive Leadership, improving financial processes and controls, mitigating risk, and driving scalable solutions that support the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities
LEADERSHIP
  • Lead and develop the Project Accounting organization, including Project Accounting Managers, Project Accountants, and Project Accounting Admins, by fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Invest in the development of Project Accounting Managers through intentional coaching, mentoring, and leadership development, creating an environment that encourages ownership, accountability, sound decision-making, and continuous growth.
  • Establish departmental strategy, goals, and performance metrics that align with the company's financial and operational objectives.
  • Own the department's organizational design, staffing, succession planning, and professional development to build a scalable, high-performing team.
  • Manage department resources, priorities, and workload to ensure effective support across all projects and operating companies.
  • Own Project Accounting policies, Standard Works, and operating procedures, ensuring they remain current with evolving business processes, systems, and company policies.

PROJECT FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT & RISK MANAGEMENT
  • Serve as the senior accounting advisor for complex project financial, contractual, and compliance matters.
  • Oversee project financial performance across the enterprise, including contract value, cost forecasting, billing, profitability, cash flow, and work-in-progress reporting.
  • Review project-level financial trends to identify risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities before they impact project or company performance.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for financial issues beyond the authority of Project Accounting Managers.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with accounting policies, sales and use tax requirements, subcontractor compliance, contract requirements, and audit standards across all projects.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and analysis on department performance, financial health, operational risks, and key business metrics.

SYSTEMS & PROCESS GOVERNANCE
  • Lead the design, standardization, and continuous improvement of project accounting processes, including WIP, forecasting, billing, month-end close, and financial controls.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial systems and reporting tools that improve operational efficiency, consistency, and visibility across the enterprise.
  • Establish governance and internal controls that drive consistent execution across all Project Accounting teams while reducing operational risk.
  • Partner with Accounting Systems, Operations, and IT to support new system implementations, process automation, and enterprise initiatives.

STRATEGIC & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP
  • Partner with the SVP of Accounting, Operations leadership, and executive stakeholders to align project accounting strategy with enterprise financial objectives.
  • Represent Project Accounting in enterprise initiatives, acquisitions, organizational changes, and strategic process improvement efforts.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Accounting, Operations, Procurement, Payroll, and executive leadership to drive consistent financial execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Influence organizational decisions by providing financial insight, identifying business risks, and recommending practical solutions that support long-term growth.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive construction accounting experience, including leadership of managers
  • Extensive knowledge of construction accounting principles, percentage-of-completion accounting, project financial management, construction contracts, and industry regulations, with the ability to interpret contractual terms and apply them to financial reporting, billing, change order management, and risk assessment.
  • Spectrum accounting/project management software a plus; proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively and respond to changes in priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with operational teams, customers, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of precision and accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Team player with the desire to provide a high level of customer service and solutions.
