SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing of activity at our project sites. You own day-to-day construction accounting execution and the monthly subledger close process. You assist the Controller and Accounting Director with overhead and margin measurement, budget development, profitability and forecasting models.
You will supervise members of the accounting team and are responsible for leading the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. You are responsible for the performance development of your team and for driving a People First, Stronger Together culture in the Accounting group.
This position is a full-time FLSA-exempt position. It requires at least 40 hours per week with the ability to work more if necessary.
INDUSTRY: Accounting & Finance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Financial Leadership & Asset Protection
    • Leads the accounting team in a manner that promotes a high level of customer service to its internal and external customers.
      • Supports the Accounting Department by ensuring it has the staffing and resources needed to meet the company's strategic objectives while fostering employee growth.
    • Ensures the Accounting Department is adhering to the requirements of project contracts.
    • Ensures compliance with financial regulation and GAAP.
  • Project Cost Accounting
    • Manages and supports project cost accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and job cost.
    • Assists with coordination of budget process and creating budget projections by providing underlying information to stakeholders.
    • Assists Accounting Director with the preparation of tax documents, including schedules and filing for state and federal taxes.
    • Execute month-end close for subledgers.
  • Financial Analysis
    • Reviews accounts payable invoices for accuracy before posting.
    • Uses technology to optimize accounting processes and increase the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
    • Owns GL accuracy and reconciliations of project related accounts and accounts payable and receivable.
    • Reviews Project Accountant client billings prior to submission.
    • Assists with variance analysis to budget.
  • Department/Leadership Administration
    • Manage accounting staff workflow
    • In partnership with Accounting Director, works with outside agencies to complete company financial audits.
    • Process treasury management transactions.
    • Leads the Accounting staff reporting to this position.
    • Provides guidance to other departments on financial matters.
    • Ensures systems integrity (Intacct, Procore, Titanium).
    • Attends and at times leads department and subgroup meetings.
    • Manages direct reports within the Finance and Accounting Department, including setting expectations for work performance excellence and on-time, quality deliverables, holding regular 1:1s with staff, providing career pathing, coaching and counseling and all other leadership areas of focus.
    • Attends competency and skills training as needed and/or assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline.
  • 6-8 years' experience in accounting, with 3+ of those years in construction project based accounting or similar field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience in Intacct Accounting software or the ability to learn to navigate and use the software quickly is required.
