Student Employee - PBWE Teaching Assistant (TA) and Mentor

Location: Ensign College


Job Type: Part-Time


Department: Career Services

Overview of the Course:

The Project-Based Work Experience (PBWE) classes (CAR 398) are part of a program supervised by the Career and Internship Services Department. These classes involve groups of five students each, who will need to meet with companies on a weekly basis and occasionally with the instructor. It is crucial to keep both the instructor and the companies updated on the progress of the projects. The Mentor TA will provide mentoring and support to each group, ensuring that the projects meet the companies' needs and deliver maximum value.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise, mentor, and support the students within the assigned groups.

  • Act as a coordinator and intermediary between Ensign and each company.

  • Keep the instructors informed about each team's progress.

  • Assist the instructor in grading each student.

  • Contribute to the marketing and promotion of the classes.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Current enrollment in at least 6 credits.

  • Preferred experience in mentoring groups of people and project management.

  • Preferred experience in managing interpersonal communications.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple student groups with different projects within the same semester.

  • Preferred skills in marketing and sales.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly with managing various projects concurrently.

  • Willing to work with students across different time zones.

  • Able to commit to this position for at least 3-4 semesters.
