Summary of Job Duties:The Program Associate - Food Safety functions under the guidance of the Nutrition and Food Safety Specialist and serves as an integral member of the Family and Consumer Sciences team.
This position supports statewide food safety education, home food preservation programming, cottage food and food entrepreneurship initiatives, and consumer food safety outreach.
Overarching responsibilities include training, mentoring, and resource development for FCS County Extension Agents throughout Arkansas.
The Program Associate will assist in implementing food safety and food preservation education programs, coordinate training and outreach activities, support curriculum development, and contribute to grant-funded projects under the direction of the Nutrition and Food Safety Specialist.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Public Health, or a closely related field, plus three years of relevant experience; OR a related Master's degree is required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food safety education or training.
  • Experience with home food preservation.
  • Experience delivering educational programs to adult audiences.
  • Experience coordinating Extension or community outreach programs.
  • Experience with curriculum development and educational resource creation.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Experience with grant-funded projects and program evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
