Job Summary:
The Project Engineer Intern will support the Engineering team through hands-on project work and essential administrative tasks. This role will primarily assist with the Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project and contribute to technical drawing preparation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The intern will also provide general administrative support, including contractor coordination, review of electrical schedules, management of phenolic plate documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
Essential Duties & Functions:
  • Assist with Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, safety, and quality.
    • Develop project plan timelines and lead cross functional work groups to complete projects within specification, on time and on budget, while also ensuring safety and food safety practices are followed.
    • Mange all aspects of the project including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, project closure.
    • Lead team meetings, identifying pinch points, managing and documenting project progress, action items, and timelines.
    • Identify solutions with Maintenance and Safety departments
    • The execution phase will require the candidate to be onsite during a plant shutdown to implement the solution and manage contractors.
  • Assist with SolidWorks and AutoCAD drawings
    • Create equipment parts in SolidWorks.
    • Building layout updates in AutoCAD.
    • Workflow.
  • Administrative Support
    • Providing general administrative support to the Engineering team, including contractor management, checking electrical schedules and phenolic plates, and ensuring all appropriate documentation is stored properly.
  • Partner with Engineering team on communication projects
    • Assist with internal and external communications.
    • Prepare presentations and reports for project updates and results to stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
  • Knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and navigate other computer systems

  • Strong sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations
  • High sense of urgency and flexibility
  • Strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, in English

Preferred Skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Work is performed largely in an office environment and on the manufacturing plant floor.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 30 hours a week.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills for operating tools or machinery.
  • Work in hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Occasional exposure to loud machinery or equipment.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
