Job description

This is an opportunity to lead the core technology that is onboarding millions to the future of finance. As part of Fireblocks, the leading platform for securing digital assets, dynamic.xyz is positioned at the intersection of enterprise security and consumer accessibility. Our combined entity is setting the new standard for best-in-class custodial and non-custodial solutions globally. Fireblocks and Dynamic provide the simplest and most secure way for companies to work with digital assets and it trusted by some of the largest financial institutions, banks, globally-recognized brands, and Web3 companies in the world, including Stripe, Circle, Zerohash,  BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, Revolut, Magic Eden, and thousands more.

The Director of Engineering for Platform will own the complex, highly-distributed systems required to deliver this vision at massive scale.

About The Team

Founded in 2021, Dynamic's vision is that every app and website will integrate a wallet component, viewing wallets as foundational infrastructure for use cases like payroll, remittances, and global payments.

The product centers on developer-first SDKs enabling seamless embedded wallet functionality. These wallets allow end users to create, manage, and use wallets without leaving the application.

Dynamic has onboarded over 50 million wallets. Within the joint entity, Dynamic focuses on the application-layer wallet experience and developer tooling, complementing Fireblocks' core custody, security, and transaction infrastructure. The team emphasizes a strong product mindset, secure-by-default systems, and exceptional developer experience.

The Platform team is the core engine of dynamic.xyz's backend, building and maintaining highly reliable, scalable, and secure foundational services. This includes the mission-critical Wallet-as-a-Service (WAAS), the core Authentication Platform, and essential services like Balances, Events, and many integrations. This high-growth area directly impacts the goal of onboarding millions more people.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Engineering for Platform, you will be a visionary hands-on leader. You will:

  • Strategic & Technical Leadership: Define the long-term technical roadmap, architecture, and standards for the Platform team, ensuring unparalleled scale, security, and resiliency.
  • Hands-On Ownership & Technical Activity: Maintain a high level of technical engagement and remain actively hands-on, contributing to critical design reviews, setting coding standards, and demonstrating a genuine passion for writing and shipping code.
  • System Scaling & Delivery: Oversee the design and implementation of highly complex distributed systems capable of handling massive transactional volume and user growth, demonstrating a great track record of delivering software at high velocity.
  • Team Management & Growth: Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing engineering organization.
  • Customer & Developer Focus: Work closely with our customers, understanding their technical needs, gathering feedback, and ensuring the platform meets their requirements for integration and performance.
  • Innovation & Technology: Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including leveraging latest AI models and technology to enhance platform efficiency, security, and feature development.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, leading multiple teams and consistently delivering complex initiatives on schedule in time-sensitive environments.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, architecting and operating large-scale, complex, and highly-secure distributed systems.
  • Exceptional focus on Security: Experience architecting or building platforms where the design required thinking deeply about security and attack vectors (e.g., in finance, payments, crypto, or authentication).
  • Deep expertise in one or more of the following sectors: Crypto/Web, Financial Services, or High-Security/Authentication Platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in scaling platforms to support millions of users and high throughput transaction volumes.
  • Proven ability to attract, hire, and develop top-tier engineering talent, with a focus on growing senior and principal-level engineers.
  • Strong technical foundation and the ability to influence architecture, including familiarity with modern development paradigms and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and AWS infrastructure (experience with TEE big plus)

For employees hired to work from our NYC HQ, Fireblocks is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range is specific to New York City and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as years of experience, skills, and other business needs. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and each compensation decision is dependent on each individual case. A reasonable base salary range estimate for this position is $220,000 - $300,000. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, a very competitive equity grant, and very generous benefits.

While we believe competitive compensation is a critical aspect of your decision to join us, we do hope you also spend time considering why our mission and culture are right for you. We are creating something transformational here, and we hope you are as excited about the future as we are.

Fireblocks' mission is to enable every business to easily and securely access digital assets and cryptocurrencies. In order to do that, we strongly believe our workforce should be as diverse as our clients, and this is why we embrace diversity and inclusion in all its forms.
