Job description

As our Director of Data Engineering, you’ll help drive Concora Credit’s Mission to enable customers to Do More with Credit – every single day.

The impact you’ll have at Concora Credit:

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, development, and scaling of our enterprise data platform. This individual will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing engineering team, setting the technical vision for our data architecture, and enabling robust data infrastructure that powers analytics, machine learning, and AI across the company.

We seek an experienced professional with expertise in cloud-first technologies and modern data practices-someone with an owner/operator philosophy who is excited about delivering modern, data-driven experiences, inspiring your staff and colleagues to do new things, and who is ever-curious and eager to learn. If you're a leader who gets things done, values collaboration, transparent communication, and empowering the exceptional people who work alongside you, we'd love to have you join us!

We hire people, not positions. That's because, at Concora Credit, we put people first, including our customers, partners, and Team Members. Concora Credit is guided by a single purpose: to help non-prime customers do more with credit. Today, we have helped millions of customers access credit. Our industry leadership, resilience, and willingness to adapt ensure we can help our partners responsibly say yes to millions more. As a company grounded in entrepreneurship, we're looking to expand our team and are looking for people who foster innovation, strive to make an impact, and want to Do More! We’re an established company with over 20 years of experience, but now we’re taking things to the next level. We're seeking someone who wants to impact the business and play a pivotal role in leading the charge for change.

As our Director of Data Engineering, you will:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the company’s data engineering team
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, data science, and business teams to understand data needs and ensure implementation of scalable, reliable data services

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Data, QA and Analytics engineers
  • Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement

Data Infrastructure and Platform Engineering:

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and platforms (e.g., data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses, data streaming)
  • Oversee the integration of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency of data systems

Compliance & Security:

  • Work with security and compliance teams to define policies on access control and data privacy and implement controls for PCI

Innovation & Optimization:

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies in data engineering and apply them where applicable
  • Continuously evaluate and improve platform scalability, performance, and developer experience

These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

We know experience comes in many forms and that many skills are transferable. If your experience is close to what we're looking for, consider applying. Diversity has made us the entrepreneurial and innovative company that we are today.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3–5+ years in a leadership or management capacity
  • Proven track record in data leadership: team composition, performance management, technology strategy, execution, and lifecycle ownership
  • Hands-on proficiency with Databricks required — Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Workflows
  • Deep expertise delivering modern data integrations and cloud data platforms where quality, scalability, and 24×7×365 availability are non-negotiable
  • Strong collaborator with a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and cultivate a culture of shared accountability and delivery excellence
  • Experience leading and growing multi-disciplinary teams spanning data engineering, analytics engineering, and QA
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and uphold high standards through code and design reviews
  • Fluency in modern software development practices — tooling, methodologies, and processes that enable rapid, secure, high-quality iteration
  • Deep expertise in modern data architecture patterns, including data lakes, lakehouses, and data warehouses
  • Strong SQL and Python skills; able to write and confidently review production-grade Spark code
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, streaming and batch pipeline design, and workflow orchestration
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong advocate for CI/CD-driven delivery, with a focus on measurable security, performance, and quality outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in fintech, enterprise SaaS, or similarly regulated, data-intensive environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with machine learning platforms and MLOps, and how they intersect with data platform decisions

What’s In It For You:

  • Medical, Dental and Vision insurance for you and your family
  • Relax and recharge with Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 6 company-observed paid holidays, plus 3 paid floating holidays
  • 401k (after 90 days) plus employer match up to 4%
  • Pet Insurance for your furry family members
  • Wellness perks including onsite fitness equipment at both locations, EAP, and access to the Headspace App
  • We invest in your future through Tuition Reimbursement
  • Save on taxes with Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Peace of mind with Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Protect yourself with company-paid Long-Term Disability and voluntary Short-Term Disability
