Job description

Helical pile Solutions (HPS) Ltd. is specialized company in the design and construction of deep foundations, which has operated in Western Canada, primarily Alberta and British Colombia, for over 40 years. Our work focuses on designing, manufacturing, and installing helical piles, driven piles and drilled shaft piles.

HPS is currently seeking a Junior/intermediate Engineer with foundation piling experience to join our team. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in deep foundation engineering design.

Requirements

Duties and responsibilities of this position may include, and are not limited to:

  • Design of Helical Piles, Steel Driven Piles and concrete drilled shaft Piles
  • Assist with design of pile foundation projects that are assigned.
  • Evaluate projects to understand design requirements
  • Plan schematic designs based on project requirements
  • Examine and assess drawings, plans, specifications, and other documents relating to construction projects
  • Collaborate and interact with construction teams, outside project developers and consultants
  • Initiate and ensure standard civil engineering discipline in drawings and plans including geotechnical, civil, and structural analyses
  • Create and validate design alternatives with the help of various design software
  • Interacts and provides support to the design staff to ensure designs are appropriate, compatible, and safe
  • Upon project completion, ensure all engineering deliverables are submitted
  • Deliver projects within established timeframes and deadlines.
  • Planning, organizing, and directing resources to best serve the needs of our clients.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Bachelor' s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from a recognized school with a minimum of 2-3 years of civil engineering experience in deep foundation design
  • Be immediately qualified to be registered with APEGA and EGBC as a P.Eng or EIT
  • Knowledge and experience in computer assisted design tools such as LPILE, STAAD PRO, and AutoCAD
  • Experience with Static Pile Load Testing and PDA Testing will be considered a big asset
  • Excellent communication abilities and skills
