Position Overview:
Anovaeon's The Religious Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating religious programming and services for individuals in an ICE processing facility. This role ensures residents have reasonable opportunities to practice their faith in accordance with facility policies and applicable federal requirements/standards
The Religious Services Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for religious accommodations and coordinates with community faith leaders, volunteers, facility leadership, and government personnel to support diverse religious practices while maintaining facility safety, security, and operational integrity.
This position reports directly to the Processing Operations Director and works collaboratively with facility leadership, case management, behavioral health, security, and medical staff to ensure religious services are delivered respectfully and in compliance with contractual requirements.
Essential Functions:
Religious Services Coordination
  • Coordinate religious services, worship opportunities, and faith-based programming for residents.
  • Ensure residents have reasonable access to religious practices, observances, and approved religious materials in accordance with ICE standards.
  • Coordinate schedules for volunteer clergy, faith leaders, and approved community religious representatives.
  • Maintain an inclusive environment that supports individuals of diverse religious backgrounds.
  • Coordinate requests for religious accommodations, including dietary, worship, and religious observance needs
  • Respond to resident requests for religious literature, approved devotional items, and other faith-based materials.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with approved faith-based organizations, community religious leaders, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)

Resident Support
  • Meet with residents regarding religious service requests and accommodation needs.
  • Assist residents in accessing approved religious resources and services.
  • Maintain respectful and confidential communication regarding residents' religious practices.

Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain documentation
  • Ensure all religious programming complies with ICE detention standards, facility policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to religious services.

Interdepartmental Collaboration
  • Collaborate with security, operations, medical, behavioral health, food services, and case management staff to facilitate religious accommodations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as needed regarding resident services.
  • Communicate operational concerns and recommendations to facility leadership.
  • Support overall facility operations while maintaining sensitivity to residents' religious and cultural needs.

Special Projects & Operational Support
  • Assist leadership with special projects related to resident services and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support facility operations during emergency situations as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support mission success.

Required Qualifications & Core Competencies
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Two (2) years of experience coordinating religious services, faith-based programming, chaplaincy support, community outreach, or human services. Knowledge of diverse religious traditions and practices.
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain all government-required credentialing, including:
    • Federal background investigation (up to and including a Tier 4 DHS clearance)
    • Criminal history check
    • Verification of employment and education history
    • Medical, TB and Drug screening
  • Ability to comply with all federal security, confidentiality, and operational protocols while working within a government facility.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate professionalism in sensitive situations.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within correctional, detention, residential, military, healthcare, or other secure government environments.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or federally contracted programs
  • Bilingual

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct facility rounds for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift)
  • Ability to lift and move supplies up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies throughout the facility
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Ability to review documentation, reports, and operational records with attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods for administrative tasks and documentation
  • Visual acuity for document review and computer work.
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, volunteers, and government personnel.
