HDR's Industrial Market Sector is growing in South Carolina.  Our Industrial Market Sector includes our pipelines practice, with teams supporting natural gas pipeline design, permiting, and utility relocation throughout the Carolinas.  HDR is seeking a mechanical or civil coordinator with an interest in obtaining their Engineering -in-Training (EIT) to support utility relocation coordinator and design for gas pipeline clients.  The right candidate would work within an existing team of professionals in the oil, gas, and chemical practice.  This position is based in our Charleston, South Carolina office.  In the role of Industrial Design Coordinator/EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in preparation of cost estimates and specifications
  • Assist the Project Manager or Engineer with project studies, project designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentation
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/mechanical projects
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
  • Travel to project sites and client meetings, including the potential for overnight stays
  • Perform other duties as needed


 

Preferred Qualifications 
  •  Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • Oil and gas pipeline and/or utility relocation experience
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • Local candidates preferred with the ability to travel intermittently for client or project meetings, including overnight stays
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
