Job Title: Scientist, Project Engineering - Certification Lead

Job Schedule: 9/80 - Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

The Certification Project Engineer provides strategic leadership for certification and compliance activities across the sector, driving standardization, process maturity, and continuous improvement. This role partners with engineering, program leadership, and other functional teams to enhance certification planning, improve execution frameworks, and enable consistent compliance outcomes across multiple products and programs. The position offers the opportunity to shape certification strategy, influence organizational best practices, and strengthen readiness for customers and regulatory engagement.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead sector-wide certification strategy initiatives that improve consistency, efficiency, and compliance across programs and product lines.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain certification processes, tools, templates, metrics, and best practices for use across the organization.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, program management, and functional leadership to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities related to certification planning and execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities focused on certification readiness, documentation quality, process compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance to program teams on certification approaches, compliance expectations, and interpretation of applicable regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
  • Serve as a key liaison for certification-related coordination with internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory representatives, as applicable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required United States Government security clearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant engineering certification experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering certification experience. 
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related engineering certification experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in certification, qualification, compliance, airworthiness, or related engineering activities for complex products or systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, improving, or governing technical processes within a regulated engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working across cross-functional organizations to align technical, quality, and program objectives.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives across multiple programs, sites, or product lines.
  • Experience developing training content, guidance material, or playbooks that support organizational capability growth
  • Experience with certification plans, compliance matrices, approval documentation, and technical data package expectations.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense certification frameworks, airworthiness processes, standard work development or regulated product development environments.
