GATE KEEPER (SEASONAL)
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND CEMETERY
CITY OF WORCESTER
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for Gate Keepers for the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cemetery. Under the direction of the Head Gate Keeper, the position will perform general tasks such as pool attendant, trash cleanup, distribution of meals for the summer food program, and assist with Summer special events within the City of Worcester and/or assigned to a site for the duration of the summer. This is a seasonal position, with an approximate end date of August 24, 2026.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
  • Maintain daily attendance records and welcome guests to facility
  • Participate in routine cleaning, cleaning equipment, and trash removal
  • Complete incident/accident report forms to be submitted to Direct Supervisor
  • Assist with Park special programming
  • Assist with opening and closing the facility
  • Inspect facility areas and report any problems to the maintenance or to Direct Supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to address issues promptly, advise management of problems or concerns, violations, and areas for improvement related to policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other personnel and the public
  • Ability to enforce facility rules and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring some physical exertion
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds to a height of 40 inches

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience with performing custodial work
  • Experience with daily record keeping
  • Experience with working with the public
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to pass CORI/SORI background checks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • American Red Cross First-Aid & CPR/AED Certification

STARTING SALARY: $15.00 hourly, seasonal, non-benefitted
