Job Description Summary

The Coordinator, Competitions is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of Sporting KC Youth Soccer's recreation and adult leagues. Reporting to the Manager, Competitions, this position works closely with coaches, teams, referees, facilities, league partners, and families to ensure competitions are organized, communicated effectively, and delivered at a high standard.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced sports environment. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, along with the ability to manage competition logistics, build strong relationships, and respond effectively to changing circumstances.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of Sporting KC Youth Soccer leagues, tournaments, and other competitive programming.
  • Assist the Manager, Competitions with planning and executing the club's competition calendar.
  • Coordinate team registrations, rosters, schedules, standings, scores, and other competition information.
  • Build and maintain game schedules in coordination with coaches, facilities, referees, and league partners.
  • Coordinate field assignments and game-day logistics.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for coaches and team managers regarding competition-related questions, schedules, and changes.
  • Monitor competition schedules, results, standings, and records for accuracy.
  • Support weather-related decisions, game cancellations, rescheduling, and other competition changes.
  • Communicate competition rules, policies, procedures, and expectations to teams and coaches.
  • Provide on-site management and operational support for Recreation and Adult League game dates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Competitions.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sports management, marketing or another related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one-three (1-2) years of sports, service and youth soccer experience.
  • Strong soccer knowledge and demonstrated skills, pursuit of coaching licenses and/or playing experience required.
  • General knowledge of the Kansas City youth soccer community preferred.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar
