We are seeking an Assistant Chief Engineeer for one of our clients in the hospitality industries, from classic and modern luxury full service hotels, to fine dining and entertainment in the San Juan area.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the daily supervision of the Engineering and Maintenance Department, ensuring the efficient operation of all hotel facilities.
- Support the coordination and supervision of engineering staff by providing technical guidance, task assignments, and performance follow-up.
- Participate in the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance programs to protect hotel assets and minimize operational disruptions.
- Assist in controlling departmental operating expenses, supporting budget management and the efficient use of resources and materials.
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations applicable in Puerto Rico, including safety codes, OSHA requirements, permits, and hotel industry standards.
- Supervise work performed by external contractors, ensuring quality, timely completion, and adherence to hotel standards.
- Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues affecting guest and employee areas, prioritizing guest satisfaction and operational continuity.
- Support the planning and execution of minor capital projects, improvements, or facility upgrades.
- Maintain ongoing communication with other departments (Housekeeping, Front Desk, Security, and Operations) to coordinate work and minimize guest impact.
- Analyze equipment failures and propose practical and timely solutions, including the procurement of parts, tools, and scheduling of work shifts.
