Job description

Job Title:  CMM Programmer 

Job Summary:  The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing and executing measurement programs using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure the dimensional accuracy of CNC-machined automotive chassis components.

Responsibility:

  • Create, modify, and optimize CMM programs using software such as Calypso (Zeiss) and MCOSMOS (Mitutoyo).
  • Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot CMM equipment.
  • Follow automotive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models to develop accurate measurement routines.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve dimensional layouts and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in departmental training.
  • Perform capabilities studies, gauge repeatability and reproducibility along with providing statistical reports reflecting process control, process capability and gauge repeatability.
  • Develop CMM work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and other required certifications.
  • Travel to multiple local plants is required.

Academic/Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.

Required Skills/Experience

2+ Years proven experience as a CMM Programmer, with specific expertise in Zeiss and Mitutoyo CMM machines, in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.

Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to work independently (self-directed) and in a team-oriented environment.
