Job description

We're looking for a highly collaborative, action-oriented technical writer to join our expanding engineering team. As our platform scales, so does the need to empower our clients, partners, and internal teams with world-class documentation.

In this role, you will partner closely with our existing technical writer, product managers, and engineers to build and maintain developer-facing documentation for internal teams, such as professional services, and external system integrator (SI) partners.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative, asks good questions, gives well-crafted feedback, and enjoys sifting through ambiguity and confusion to find structure and clarity. If you love unraveling technical complexity and building scalable documentation processes, we want you on our team.

Strong organizational and collaboration skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create & Maintain Documentation: Develop clear, well-structured architectural guides, system overviews, onboarding materials, API specifications, and other documentation materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive Discovery: Actively pull complex technical concepts out of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and surface them in a way the intended audience can understand.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Engage with engineering, product, and implementation teams to gather information, create processes, and improve the quality of our products. The ideal candidate is able to collaborate with almost anyone, regardless of role.
  • Elevate Team Writing: Act as an evangelist for high-quality writing, standardizing style and structure, and helping developers improve their own writing and communication skills.
  • Process Improvement: Leverage modern documentation tools, including AI tools, to optimize workflows, collaboratively create documentation standards, and hold teams accountable to them.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience, ideally within an enterprise B2B SaaS environment.
  • Ability to break down complex technical topics into easily digestible pieces.
  • Ability to ruthlessly edit your own work and constructively review the work of others.
  • Ability to bridge communication within and between teams.
  • Ability to excavate, organize, and preserve institutional knowledge.
  • Experience or interest in information architecture or knowledge management.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse and globally distributed team.
  • Strong organizational capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple documentation streams in parallel, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile methodologies and comfort working directly with software engineers.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to improve docs workflows.

Bonus Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Familiarity with docs-as-code, Git-based version control, static site generators, Markdown, and YAML.
  • Ability to read & navigate a codebase, and/or write code samples (potentially with AI-assistance).
  • Familiarity with TypeScript and React.
  • Experience creating System Integrator (SI) partner-facing technical documentation.
  • Experience and/or willingness to act as a Scrum Master (e.g. leading standups & retrospectives, facilitating inter-team communication, preserving and processing sprint artifacts, etc.)
