Job description

Technical Writers create reusable content to help a variety of audiences easily learn to use InterSystems products. They present complex material to their target audiences. They participate fully in development teams.

The writer performs the following tasks:

  • Takes long-term responsibility for a specificsignificant subject area. Attends development project meetings and conveys status to other content creators.
  • Works on product documentation that describes new features and enhancements for each release. Updates and improves existing documentation on an ongoing basis.
  • Researches technical material from diverse sources. Produces coherent, well-structured documentation that defines use cases and describes how to solve problems associated with them.
  • Collaborates with the online learning, classroom training, and certification groups to maximize reuse for multiple audiences. May participate in the development of other learning materials.
  • Works with stakeholders and mentors to determine the appropriate schedule for documentation projects. Sets priorities, triages incoming tasks, and rebalances workloads effectively.
  • Becomes generally knowledgeable about InterSystems products and develops secondary areas of expertise.
  • Works to improve documentation quality, process, productivity, and presentation. Raises documentation and cross-departmental issues, and helps resolve them.
