Job description

CNC Programmer

Livermore, CA

Direct Hire

We are a growing manufacturer experiencing significant expansion through new contracts in the government, medical device, and advanced automation sectors. We are looking for a dedicated CNC Programmer to join our team in an onsite, full-time capacity.

This role is ideal for a skilled manufacturing professional who wants to focus on programming and process support while contributing to a fast-paced, prototype-heavy environment.

Role Overview

You will work closely with our lead programmer, engineering staff, and shop floor machinists to handle mid-level programming tasks. This is a hands-on position that requires a strong foundation in machining; while the primary focus is on milling-based programming, you will also support quality operations by utilizing established internal processes for CMM inspection during lower-volume programming periods.

  • Location: Livermore, CA
  • Pay Rate: $38.00 – $60.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Overtime: Variable based on workload; currently, overtime opportunities are available and expected to continue in the near term.

Why Join Us?

  • Growth & Advancement: Our company is actively expanding, investing in new equipment, and pursuing broader certifications, providing a stable environment with significant opportunities for professional learning. History of no layoffs.
  • Impactful Projects: You will work on highly engineered products across diverse industries, including automation and medical-device-adjacent work.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Includes health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with matching, and paid time off (holidays, vacation, and sick leave).

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming: Create, modify, and optimize 2D and 3D milling programs using Mastercam.
  • Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting assistance on the shop floor, develop setup instructions, and create tool lists for production personnel.
  • Quality Oversight: Coordinate CMM inspection activities to ensure parts meet tight tolerances (ranging from .005" to .0005").
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturing goals are met.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of CNC programming experience, ideally complemented by 5–10 years of hands-on machining experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Mastercam is required.
  • 5-Axis experience a strong plus.
  • Machining Knowledge: A thorough understanding of machining various materials (e.g., aluminum, steel, stainless, copper, plastics).
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for working with our team.
  • Professionalism: We value stability and are looking for candidates with a consistent work history.
