Job description

Senior CMM Programmer – Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

We are partnering with a rapidly growing precision manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense, medical device, and other high-precision industries to hire a Senior CMM Programmer.

This role supports new product introductions, first articles, process validation, and production inspection by developing and optimizing CMM inspection programs for complex, tight-tolerance components.

Compensation:

$45–55/hr (depending on experience)

  • Keyence Laser Inspection Technology
  • Siemens NX
  • Hermle, Heller, Zayer, and DN Solutions machining centers
  • Siemens Sinumerik & Heidenhain controls

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, validate, and optimize CMM inspection programs for complex aerospace and defense components.
  • Program and operate Wenzel CMM systems for first article, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to create accurate inspection routines.
  • Support new product introductions by developing inspection strategies alongside manufacturing engineering and CNC programming.
  • Perform first article inspections and prepare detailed dimensional reports.
  • Troubleshoot dimensional issues and collaborate with machinists, programmers, and engineers to identify root causes.
  • Validate manufacturing process capability through precision metrology and inspection data.
  • Maintain inspection documentation, programs, and quality records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on measurement accuracy, repeatability, and inspection efficiency.
  • Assist with calibration activities and proper maintenance of metrology equipment.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of CMM programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming Wenzel CMM systems or comparable CMM platforms.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical device, or other high-precision manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Experience with first article inspection (FAI) and production inspection.
  • Strong understanding of precision metrology, inspection methodology, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience using laser scanning or advanced optical inspection systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Siemens NX and manufacturing workflows is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
