Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Engineering - Global Operations Technology - Operations and Corporate Services team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.  This role is responsible for design, development and support of various applications in GOT Development Services. Technologies include Microsoft SQL/.NET applications and newer Cloud based technologies. This role will be also tasked with involvement in IT projects to replace legacy applications with modern technology solutions. 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. 
  • Participate in gathering requirements and analysis 
  • Develop code, test, deploy and maintain scalable applications to ensure strong functionality and optimization using Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).  
  • Develop documentation (including TDD & SDD) throughout the SDLC including Flow diagrams. 
  • Identify existing Production applications bottleneck/legacy apps to improve performance  
  • Clear and regular communication with management and technical support colleagues. 
  • Collaborate with internal Bank teams to provide high quality software design and architecture 
  • Conduct and provide IST, UAT and production application support to complex technical problems on assigned applications that serve the business units including problem analysis, developing solutions and new procedures as necessary 
  • Adapt, Learn and Serve as an expert (SME) on applications to provide technical support. 
  • Be primary point of contact for Level 1 and Level 2 issues to resolution i.e. required to be on call on a rotation basis with other team members (2 weeks duration at a time) 
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Mandatory Training is provided and must be complied with. 
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and Scotia Bond, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 

  • BSc/BA or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field 
  • 5 Years Hands on Experience of .NET languages (C#, VB .NET), JAVA, Python, SQL and MS Power Platform 
  • 2-3 Experience in JQuery, Angular JS, Entity Framework 
  • Experience in migrating On-prem applications to GCP, Kubernetes (Azure/Google) 
  • 2 years' experience with GitHub Copilot or AI code deployments an asset 
  • Knowledge of Data Bricks or other similar Data analytics platforms will be helpful. 
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops  
  • Knowledge of major RDBMS systems: Preferably SQL Server (3 years +) / Oracle and familiarity with SSRS and SSIS 
  • Experience in Reporting Tools, such as Crystal Reports, Closed XML, Power BI 
  • Working experience with Console Application, Autosys, Splunk, Fortify, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow 
  • Expertise on JSON, RESTful service design and RESTful URI pattern and design standards 
  • Experience of Office 365 Suite 
  • Working experience with TFS DevOps, Windows Servers 
  • Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC) 
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively 
  • Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business 
  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary 
  • Strong attention to detail
