Key responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for the developer experience within Bubble

  • Own the DX strategy and roadmap, identifying and executing on opportunities to improve engineering velocity and quality

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tooling, into the development lifecycle

Job description

We built Bubble with a clear mission: to empower everyone to create software. Our AI visual development platform lets anyone, from first-time entrepreneurs to enterprise teams, take an idea from prompt to fully-functional, scalable app across web, iOS, and Android. With over 6 million users in more than 100 countries, Bubble is breaking down the barriers to entrepreneurship and innovation worldwide.
Our Product
Bubble is the only fully visual AI app builder that lets you vibe code without the code to go beyond prototypes and launch real apps to real users. Chat with AI when you want speed, edit directly when you want control. Bubble's visual editor lets you fine-tune any detail, from the design to privacy rules and programming logic, so you're never stuck, even if AI hits its limits. Everything you need comes built in: a unified web and native mobile editor, enterprise-grade hosting, security, database management, and automatic scaling that grows with your business.
You can build just about anything on Bubble, and our community is living proof. Mailead grew a $10K investment into a $2M valuation, and Faceless.video went from zero to $1M+ ARR in under a year. People aren't just launching products on Bubble, they're building real businesses. See how Bubble builders are shipping apps that change industries, solve problems, and shape the future here: Inspiring builders, breakthrough apps.
Why Join Bubble Now?
The rise of AI-generated software has validated everything Bubble has been building toward for over a decade. But pure AI-generated code is fragile, hard to debug, and rarely production-ready. Bubble bridges that gap, combining the speed of AI with a structured visual platform that produces stable, scalable, secure software. The people who join Bubble right now will help define what that means for millions of builders around the world. If you've ever wanted to work on something that genuinely changes who gets to build, this is your moment.
About the Developer Experience team:
The Developer Experience (DX) Pod is dedicated to improving the productivity, quality, and satisfaction of engineers working at Bubble. Our mission is to modernize the developer environment, lead AI adoption, reduce friction in day-to-day workflows, and unlock sustainable long-term velocity for the entire engineering team. This includes everything from enhancing our internal design system to implementing an AI code review system to speeding up our build pipeline.
Some initiatives we drive directly, while others involve building standards, frameworks, and example implementations that empower other teams to adopt best practices. By enabling engineers to work faster and with more confidence, the DX Pod creates leverage across the organization and ensures that Bubble's engineering culture can scale as our product and customer base grow.
About the role:
As an Engineering Manager on the Developer Experience Pod, you'll lead a team focused on improving how engineers build, test, ship, and monitor code at Bubble. You'll take ownership of complex initiatives-from technical design through execution- ensuring they deliver measurable improvements to developer velocity, performance, or satisfaction. You'll work closely with your pod to prioritize initiatives, and collaborate with other teams to roll out changes that scale beyond the pod itself. This is a hands-on role; you should be comfortable weighing in on architecture, reviewing PRs, and as time permits, contributing code yourself.
What you'll do at Bubble:
  • Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for the developer experience within Bubble
  • Own the DX strategy and roadmap, identifying and executing on the biggest opportunities to improve engineering velocity and quality
  • Lead career development and hiring for your team. You'll expand, uplevel, and promote your engineers in an equitable fashion, ensuring every individual has an opportunity for success
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tooling, into our development lifecycle
  • Partner with staff engineers and engineering managers to successfully roll out changes and ensure we're delivering impact across Bubble
  • Set technical quality standards for our codebase and balance proper debt investments while making progress on product roadmaps
  • Optimize the local development loop, including build, bundling, and hot reload times

About you:
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • Strong proficiency across the stack, from the frontend through infrastructure
  • Experience with developer tooling - build systems, bundlers, testing frameworks, package managers, and CI/CD pipelines - and a passion for improving how engineers work day to day
  • Experience utilizing AI tooling to accelerate development workflows, and a critical perspective on how to integrate these tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience organizing and leading multiple projects, ensuring alignment, execution, and measurable outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, balancing pragmatic short-term improvements with strategic, scalable solutions
  • Adaptable and curious - you proactively identify inefficiencies, dig into root causes, and design solutions that scale beyond your own team

Compensation:
We offer competitive compensation aligned to tier one markets. Our estimated salary for this role at Bubble ranges from $200,000 to $258,000. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
