Boeing Product Security Software is seeking a First Line Software Security Capability Manager to lead a team of Product Security Engineers (PSEs) and engage with software efforts across the enterprise, including Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Boeing Global Services (BGS), and Engineering & Technical Innovation (E&TI). The initial focus will be on key programs in BDS, and the Boeing Software Factory (BSF). You will partner with Enterprise, Business Unit, Division, and Program Leadership to establish key demand areas. You will establish an operational rhythm and assess business needs. You will organize teams to define and execute discrete statements of work to deploy services with technical excellence to specific projects. During these activities, you will support existing business needs and help develop and win new business through a repeatable pattern of Software Assurance technical excellence.

The PSE Software Security team has an immediate opportunity for an energetic, versatile, and highly collaborative Manager to help grow and strengthen the Secure Software Development Lifecycle across Boeing projects in St. Louis, MO. This team will actively shape the adoption of secure development practices within program software factories, as well as the attestation, certification, and security of software products and services.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills who can manage a multitude of tasks. The Manager will work closely with executive leadership, functional teams, software engineering, and a variety of product and service stakeholders.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Serves as the PSE software representative on programs, partnering with other PSE capability teams to drive planning, execution, and technical excellence
  • Leads strategy, planning, and execution for software security across assigned programs
  • Provides management representation in key programs, representing and elevating PSE and software security priorities
  • Leads the growth and shaping of the software security capability to support current and future program needs
  • Fosters productive and two-way relationships with Product Security and Software Engineering division and program leads
  • Represents security interests and best practices, while managing program Risks, Issues, and Opportunities (RIOs)
  • Overall HR management responsibilities including career development, skill forecasting, staffing, and talent management
  • Develops software security engagement plans aligned to business and campaign priorities
  • Oversees the execution of engagement plans to ensure business, technical, and customer requirements are achieved
  • Defines clarity and scope of software security engineering roles and responsibilities in a program context
  • Builds, develops, and deploys an empowered workforce and talent pipeline through staffing, career assignments, promotions, skill development, and talent management
  • Ensures technical excellence by developing teammates, providing mentorship, and instilling a culture of accountability and bias for action

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Hazelwood, MO. Some travel may be required as business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functionalproject/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • An Active Security Clearance (Active means held within the previous two years from today)
  • 5+ years of experience do you have in an engineering discipline

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience in product security engineering
  • 2+ years of engineering leadership experience.
  • Either a Security+ or CISSP certification
  • Experience in product design activities and/or software development lifecycle
  • Experience designing and/or developing software frameworks
  • Knowledge of DoD policies and requirements related to Cyber Security
  • Understanding of DoD contracting, developing proposals, and the Boeing estimating process
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet aggressive schedules
