Position Overview:
As an OSP Engineer I (Entry Level), you will be responsible for planning, designing, documenting, and permitting proposed new OSP FTTx build-outs. This role will work as a member of our Fiber Design & Implementation team to produce high-quality deliverables for buried, underground, and aerial fiber applications.
*Training will be offered to the right candidate who meets the minimum requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Reads and understands maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
  • Creates and reviews fiber assignments (schematics), high-level designs, and low-level designs.
  • Communicate with project managers, permitting team, and field personnel to produce accurate deliverables in accordance with deadlines, client expectations, and JSI standards.
  • Continuously improves job-related tasks and processes, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Completes other tasks assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Qualifications
Required:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or GIS discipline preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
  • Must possess intermediate skills in basic programs like Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Highly organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superior time management and strong attention to detail.
  • Must perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain. (You will be exposed to various weather conditions)
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

Preferred:
  • Experience as a design engineer for an ISP, telephone company or cable TV provider (or as a consultant to those providers) and experience with engineering economic analysis and optimization is preferred.
  • Experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD 3D and ESRI based GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
