This role guides technical execution across production support, design sustainment, configuration management, root cause investigation, and continuous improvement while ensuring engineering priorities align with business goals and product technical requirements.The Engineering Manager oversees and guides the Sustaining Design Engineering and Engineering Services teams, ensuring projects align with business goals and product technical requirements. The candidate will be responsible to ensure that production programs and factory cells are fully supported throughout the entire value stream from component procurement through product manufacturing, test and final shipment to the customer. In addition, the individual is also responsible for managing the department budget and project tasks assignment within the allocated timelines. The individual plays a pivotal role in leading the team, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.Responsibilities IncludeManages the Sustaining Design Engineering and Engineering Services teamsEnsures active cross functional collaboration with all integrated product team membersLeads by example promoting a culture of ownership and accountability by developing meaningful key performance metrics that will encourage the team to focus their efforts to achieving the business goalsProven ability in the robust application of mechanical and ordnance products design fundamentals and analyses in order to continuously reduce product variability, while maximizing performance in an aerospace and defense environmentManages the disciplined application of failure investigation root cause and corrective actions implementation, while leading a culture of robust design configuration baseline and continuous improvementPromotes a culture of positive results through the proper application of the business system tools and processes as standard workDemonstrated team development, guidance and mentorship skillsEnsures team has the tools and knowledge to successfully execute their roleCreates work culture were individual learning and personal growth is a priorityEnsures sustained compliance in configuration management and environmental health and safetyBuilds and maintains strong relationships with customers, management and other departmentsQualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline - Master's degree is a plus3+ years of demonstrated leadership of a technical team7+ years of demonstrated expertise in the application of Mechanical/Ordnance Design Engineering principlesSignificant aerospace and/or defense product manufacturing experience in a low-volume, high-mix environment is preferredExperience with Toyota Production System or other continuous improvement system with demonstrated results using Lean and/or Six-Sigma principlesDemonstrated knowledge in reading and applying engineering design practices such as drafting principles and GD&TDemonstrated results using design risk reduction tools such as DFMEA, DMF and DOEDemonstrated results using failure analysis processes such as RCCA and FRACASExcellent problem-solving skills.
