Job description

What will you be doing!

  • Leading reviews and continuous improvements of Whiteshell (WL) Engineering and planning resource availability to support site initiatives and schedule commitments, including 306090day lookahead prioritization.
  • Interfacing with customers, maintenance, and support groups to align priorities and meet schedule requirements.
  • Supporting work execution through application of the WL planning process, including effective use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and the Integrated Work Control Process.
  • Preparing drawing and document packages for work release and compiling completed Engineering Design Packages with supporting documentation for filing in VAULT.
  • Enhancing safety culture and organizational excellence through leadership, accountability, communication, and process improvement, including preparing daily standup meeting packages to support the Whiteshell decommissioning mission.
  • Providing and updating monthly Engineering and planning EstimateatCompletion (EAC) forecasts, and developing variance analysis reports, departmental charges, and corrections in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
  • Producing, updating, and improving Engineering documentation (e.g., NPARB reports and procedures) by benchmarking against industry standards and implementing continuous improvements.
  • Creating and maintaining resource leave calendars while tracking resource loading against the site schedule.
  • Supporting Engineering workflow optimization initiatives to advance the Whiteshell Laboratories Decommissioning Project mandate.
  • Improving key performance metrics and resource capacity forecasting to support achievement of sitewide decommissioning milestones and deliverables.
  • Forecasting Planning and Engineering resource requirements for preventative maintenance, project, and decommissioning work, and negotiating schedule adjustments as priorities change.
  • Monitoring weekly ImpAct reports in the Devonway system to ensure data accuracy and timely completion of actions.
  • Providing Engineering and Planning technical support and delivering clear, consolidated status reports to branch teams and senior leadership using existing systems, Excel workbooks, and inputs from ECC, P6 scheduling, and DDC&C logs.
  • Applying advanced spreadsheet proficiency and collaborating with branch teammates to develop efficient, practical, and strategic solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Minimum 3 year college diploma or equivalent education and experience combined with a minimum of 5 years of technical maintenance/work management/engineering experience.
  • Experience
    • Experience planning and scheduling work, and work management exposure.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Skilled in the use of computer programs (Word and Excel) and willing to participate in continuing training in WMS related software.
    • Knowledge of electronic financial management systems, P6, VAULT and ATOM.
    • Technical skills and ability to format and edit formal documents.
    • Knowledge of CNL electronic filing system.
    • Familiarity with maintenance and engineering processes and procedures, N286 documentation, General Conduct of Operations, site procedures, and reporting requirements
    • Familiarity with engineering and maintenance work procedures, General Conduct of Operations, site procedures and work permit requirements.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."


Working Conditions:

  • Working schedule: We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
