Full-Time Permanent Position
Salary Range: $110-150K


JMT Consultants is a North American-based global leader specializing in steel and concrete design solutions. Services include pre-construction modeling, structural design support, steel and concrete detailing, connection and stair engineering, panel book detailing, estimate modeling, and BIM management.


We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer – Project Manager to lead structural engineering projects from initial planning and design through completion.

The successful candidate will combine strong structural engineering knowledge with excellent project management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. This position requires someone who can manage multiple projects, coordinate internal and external teams, maintain project schedules and budgets, and ensure that technical deliverables meet client requirements, applicable codes, and company quality standards.


The ideal candidate is commercially aware, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects and client relationships. A strong understanding of structural steel design, fabrication, detailing, and construction processes will be particularly valuable in this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage structural engineering projects from kickoff through design, coordination, delivery, and closeout.
  • Lead client and stakeholder communication, coordinating with consultants, contractors, fabricators, detailers, and erectors.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and engineering hours while proactively addressing project risks.
  • Design, analyze, and review structural systems while providing technical leadership and oversight to project teams.
  • Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and other engineering deliverables for accuracy, quality, and code compliance.
  • Coordinate structural engineering requirements with detailing, fabrication, erection, architectural, and other disciplines.
  • Manage RFIs, design revisions, scope changes, technical issues, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project meetings and clearly communicate project status, priorities, risks, and decisions.
  • Support proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, schedules, and project planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while promoting quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and successful project delivery.
  • Work on projects designed to CISC and AISC standards, with AISC projects led through our U.S. company.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with architects, consultants, contractors, steel fabricators, detailers, and erectors is an asset.
  • Experience with Tekla Structural Designer, Excel, IDEA StatiCa, Bluebeam, RISA Suite, Revit, or RAM Connection is an asset.
  • A desire to continue developing technical, leadership, and project management expertise.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration.
  • Minimum 4+ years of structural engineering experience, with demonstrated project coordination or project management responsibilities.
  • Strong experience in structural steel design and construction.
  • Experience managing project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and client communication.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Canadian building codes and structural design standards.
  • Knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel projects is considered an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to the United States as required.
