Position Summary
The Engineering Manager is accountable for the development, management, review, and approval of the final technical design details for RNG facilities, new builds, improvements and process modifications. This position will assist in administering and monitoring all aspects of the engineering effort during various phases of project development, performance modification, and operations support. The role will also provide technical and engineering support during commissioning, start-up and operations of the assets. The incumbent will collaborate extensively with the various teams to ensure engineering designs meet project specifications, industry standards, applicable permits and scope of work. The Engineering Manager will lead various engineering disciplines including but not limited to Process, Mechanical, external engineering teams, and various engineering consultants. The incumbent must be skilled in communicating, vendor management, effective delegation, and problem solving. A results-oriented, self-motivated engineer is needed to work cross-functionally to support or lead a diverse set of analytical and/or operational tasks that arise in a start-up environment and continuous operations. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
  • Be the key player in the engineering leadership team. Lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts to deliver RNG assets safe, on time and support effective project execution
  • Support Project Manager, Business Development, and Operations on all technical related efforts to successfully develop, optimize and run RNG facilities
  • Ensure quality of engineering design and all deliverables of both direct and subcontracted work comply with project requirements, scope, regulatory requirements and execution plans
  • Effectively delegate all engineering workflow during various phases of project development including administration of interfaces with project management, business development and operations
  • Establish and maintain process requirements such as design basis, heat and mass balance, process design, equipment and material selection, operation and maintenance requirements
  • Review drawings, schedules, specifications and permits to ensure all engineering deliverables are in compliance with project and regulatory requirements
  • Support cost estimates and cost justifications related to the development, design, and operating performance of both new commercial projects and existing facilities
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary teams to track, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Support operational management information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating and engineering data and trends
  • Create action plan for resolving issues by studying operation targets, unit performance and limitations
  • Support the development of annual operating plans for gas production, O&M costs, and capital improvement budgets
  • Assist onsite field operations staff by problem solving and troubleshooting issues that may arise in RNG production
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and other training material to improve performance of the field operations staff
  • Collaborate on constructability, operability and safety studies
  • Works collaboratively with the Project Manager, Operations, and the members of project leadership to ensure timely deliverables and proper and efficient interface management between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operations
  • Recruit, train, motivate and develop engineers to support business needs

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical preferred)
  • 10+ years of process engineering and project execution experience preferably with operations management background
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to manage a team and get results
  • Demonstrated succinct, clear communication (oral and written)
  • Passion for & track record of delivering results and problem solving
  • Strong knowledge or energy engineering processes, standards, and vendor processes
