POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss' Manager, Engineering will oversee a regional team in the development and execution of designing utility-scale solar projects. This role requires a strong background in solar EPC, with exposure to all engineering disciplines, including mechanical, civil, electrical, SCADA, structural, and performance modeling, as well as engineering management - contracting, construction, and internal and external partner management.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Manage and develop a team of Engineering Leads and Project Engineers supporting utility-scale PV projects, including resource planning, workload balancing, and performance reviews. Support the development and execution of team development plans, providing mentorship and training to enhance technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ownership among team members
  • Ensure proper mentorship of junior engineers to ensure consistent application of technical guidelines, design optimization techniques, compliance processes and Moss standards
  • Foster and promote culture driven by core values of honor relationships, entrepreneurial spirit, and contagious energy within the team
  • Support the Senior Engineering Manager in continuous process improvement initiatives improving engineering efficiency, design standardization, and process automation. Gain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, product innovations, and regulatory changes affecting solar and energy storage systems
  • Ensure proper collaboration with engineering team and project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely and efficient execution of engineering deliverables
  • Facilitate project kickoffs with clients, EORs and AHJs as needed
  • Manage engineering inputs to procurement packages, RFIs, construction drawings, and as-built documentation
  • Oversee the engineering aspects of utility-scale solar projects from project award through to project closeout, ensuring adherence to critical milestones such as design reviews, procurement, and construction deadlines
  • Ensure EOR designs are compliance with AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction), codes and regulations, utility interconnection standards, and environmental regulations
  • Accountable for team adherence of quality assurance processes and engineering best practices to ensure high-quality project engineering execution. Support Field Operations to ensure project engineering deliverables are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest construction standards
  • Provide final review of EOR subcontracts and change orders, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget
  • Support Preconstruction teams in Owner contract negotiations
  • Assist the Senior Engineering Manager in updating project engineering timelines to help forecast resources for new projects and facilitate balanced workload within the team
  • Establish and maintain core relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Accountable for ensuring effective communication in weekly coordination calls between EORs and owners, reviewing RFIs and engineering deliverable schedule shifts, submittals, and addressing design clarification through construction and the project lifecycle as needed. Assist Schedule Manager in creating and updating project engineering deliverable dates on a weekly basis or as needed
  • Serve as the engineering point of contact for clients, utilities, independent engineers (IEs), and permitting agencies as needed
  • Address project-level escalations between EORs, Project Management, Owners and AHJs promptly and effectively, providing solutions to technical challenges
  • Interface with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
  • Represent the engineering team in project meetings, client presentations, utility interconnection discussions, and permitting hearings as needed

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the utility-scale solar EPC industry
  • Familiarity of NEC codes, ASCE standards, and local regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet critical deadlines
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D - not required but a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong coordination, problem solving, documentation, and data entry skills
