What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform qualification and regulatory compliance testing for next generation optical switching products.
  • Perform qualification of electrical and optical sub-components.
  • Collect then analyze data and compare results with vendor submitted data.
  • Analyze and characterize failures.
  • Collect and analyze test, vendor, and field data.
  • Calculate reliability statistics (FIT, MTBF, etc.).
  • Prepare reports.
  • Learn how electro-optical products are tested and how/why they fail.

What We're Looking For

Education:

  • 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • You must be registered full-time or part time, in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.

Skills:

  • Understanding of optical systems and optical instruments;
  • Understanding of electrical and optical measurements;
  • Understanding of Statistics;
  • Previous experience working with databases, processing large sets of data, and summarizing using AI Tools;
  • Previous experience with Python, Visual Basic, or other scripting language would be considered an asset;
  • The ability to scrutinize and interpret data in order to provide meaningful conclusions;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to operate effectively in highly technical and multi project environment.
  • Organized and motivated individual with attention to detail;
  • Focused on completing assigned tasks in a timely manner;
