About the team

Reporting to the Manager, Architecture & Applications, the Application Lifecycle Management Co-Op/Intern, in partnership with their team members within the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) team, is responsible for all applications lifecycle management, including for those managed by teams outside of Corporate IT.

The Application Lifecycle Management Co-Op/Intern is responsible for ensuring the governance and integrity of our applications is maintained throughout the useful life of each application.

The ALM team serves every area of the business and works across multiple business units and teams to ensure everyone has access to the right application information. In addition to consulting the business to deliver those services, ALM works closely with Finance for vendor management and Strategic Security Compliance and Security Operations for vendor and application security.


Location

You should be located in Eastern OR Atlantic time zone. If in Ottawa or Toronto, you must work from the office at least three days a week.Other Canada Eastern/Atlantic time zone Locations โ€“ REMOTE 

Term Duration

This is a full-time, 8, or 12-month position, starting January, 2027.

Co-op / Intern Eligibility

This position is open to co-ops and interns. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in full-time education or be a recent/upcoming graduate within 12 months of the placement end date.

Compensation range

$19.46 - $28.55 hourly rate. The final offer within this range will reflect the candidateโ€™s skills, year of education, and experience.

What you will do
  • Work closely with other Corporate IT teams, IT Business Partners, App Excellence team members and business users to identify and analyze business processes, user and system requirements to complete the Application Lifecycle Management checklist, ensuring applications are compliant
  • Complete business criticality scorecards in conjunction with the business
  • Responsible for the data quality of the catalogue of all applications, ensuring all who need application help have the right information (e.g. Service Desk, Corporate Services, Security Operations, adjacent teams, etc.)
  • For applications identified as having duplicate functionality, work with users of the applications and the ARB to identify which can and will be decommissioned
  • For applications identified as being in the queue for decommission, work with users to migrate them to the supported tool
  • Follow the application decommission process once tools have no users
  • Contribute to business analysis, implementation, integration, configuration, and testing in support of the applications under the ALM purview
  • Identify any knowledge based articles that could and should be written for the application, and then do so
  • Identify opportunities to mature and improve our Application Lifecycle Management
  • May perform additional projects upon request
What we are looking for
  • Enrolled in 3rd year or more or recently graduated from Information Systems, MIS, Information Technology, Business Technology management, Software development, or related program.
  • Functional/professional experience in business analysis, project management, testing, application support, implementing, and/or configuring applications
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks based on the needs of the business
  • A clear, concise, and professional communicator with the ability to present information, knowledge, and content with justification to a variety of audiences
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to apply sound judgement and think critically Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate several alternative solutions to meet the business needs

Things that Would Definitely Help

  • Experience with design, configuration and/or support of a variety of applications apps such as, desktop applications/tools e.g. Putty, SnagIt, or experience with cloud applications e.g. Atlassian, Microsoft, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Eloqua, SuccessFactors, Gainsight, Netsuite
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) & Agile best practices
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, object-oriented, and web-based systems, applications, environments, and relevant tools/technology
  • Having a technical background, system/data integration experience, or experience with API development is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying databases
