To thrive as a Programmer Analyst Intern, you typically need a foundational understanding of programming languages, software development concepts, and problem-solving abilities, often backed by progress toward a degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with tools such as SQL databases, version control systems like Git, and familiarity with software development environments are important. At Property Reserve, our people, values, and work come together to build something greater. Property Reserve is the real estate investment arm of the reserve funds for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the spirit of time-tested self-reliance principles, Property Reserve creates sustainable cashflow for future needs.

As caretakers of sacred funds, we invest in income-generating properties and land to support the Church's mission. Our focus is on the acquisition, build-to-hold development, and portfolio level management of office, industrial, multi-family, build-to-rent, hospitality, and retail properties.

Headquartered in downtown Salt Lake City, we offer a locale with a unique blend of world-class outdoor recreation, a thriving culture & arts scene, and diverse housing options with convenient commutes.

As a Research Analyst Intern, you will support the Research team by conducting market research, analyzing data, and developing insights that inform commercial real estate investment and portfolio decisions.

You will gain hands-on experience in applied quantitative research, statistical analysis, market forecasting, and portfolio analytics. Your work will help Property Reserve evaluate market trends, measure portfolio performance, assess risk and diversification, and identify signals that may influence future investment decisions.

Like other interns across Property Reserve, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that support multiple aspects of the investment process and interact with professionals across functions such as Transactions, Asset Management, Land, Development, and Finance. This position is designed for students who want to apply strong analytical and quantitative skills in a collaborative, real-world commercial real estate investment environment.

Why Choose Property Reserve?

  • Gain experience that can support future career opportunities
  • Internship compensation at market rate
  • Healthy work-life balance
  • Strong culture and mission
  • Access to mentors at all levels
  • Exposure to institutional commercial real estate investment processes and practices
  • Opportunity to use industry-leading software, data platforms, and research tools
  • Meaningful project work with visibility across investment and portfolio teams

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, relationships, and early indicators of market performance
  • Assist with statistical models and analytical tools that support real estate investment and portfolio decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of forecasting, ranking, and market-monitoring models across property types and geographic regions
  • Support tools and analyses that evaluate portfolio performance, risk, diversification, and optimization opportunities
  • Evaluate markets and investment opportunities through research, quantitative analysis, and financial analysis
  • Prepare research summaries, data visualizations, presentations, investment briefs, and other materials that clearly communicate findings to investment professionals and leadership
  • Help improve and streamline research processes through data organization, workflow automation, and collaboration with technical teams
  • Partner with professionals across Strategy & Research and other investment functions on project-based and ad hoc research initiatives
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
  • Pursuing or nearing completion of a bachelor's degree in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, data science, or another relevant quantitative field
  • Strong interest in commercial real estate, financial markets, investment strategy, or portfolio analysis
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and their practical application
  • Experience working with Python and data science libraries such as pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial, economic, or market data
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly through writing, presentations, and data visualizations
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to produce reliable work
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic, collaborative mindset, positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and desire to learn
  • Familiarity with cloud-computing or data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Databricks preferred
  • Experience with commercial real estate data, research tools, financial modeling, or portfolio analytics preferred
