Job description

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional project manager for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) and other aerospace system development, acquisition, operations, and sustainment efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to support the US Air and Space Forces' acquisition and integration of next-generation technologies and capabilities.
This project manager will work with a highly skilled team providing programmatic support for the future of ICBM technologies, and includes integrating efforts across the ICBM enterprise and other DoD customers and stakeholders.
The candidate will operate in an organizational culture that develops and challenges employees to achieve high performance in a fast-paced, high-morale workplace using streamlined management policies and procedures. It is a challenging and rewarding position with growth opportunity, backed by, and integrated with the broad technology-related capabilities of BAE Systems, Inc. as one of the top 10 DoD contractors. You will provide contributions that will shape the development and deployment of the US Air Force's next generation ICBM and support similar efforts to integrate aerospace systems engineering, integration, and test capabilities with US Space Force and others within BAE Systems' broad DoD customer base.
Why BAE Systems? BAE Systems is the third largest defense contractor in the world with an exceptional, mission-focused culture. The BAE Systems employees and sub-contractors located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah are predominantly aligned to the ICBM Systems Directorate, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. We support the directorate in sustaining the existing LGM-30 Minuteman III (MM III) weapon system and acquiring its replacement, the Sentinel ICBM. We are a uniquely valued mission partner delivering daily technical excellence and innovative solutions to the Government. BAE Systems has earned accolades as a "Top Workplace" in Utah based on employee feedback for seven consecutive years, earning special distinction for providing a healthy work-life balance for our valued employees. We work very hard to ensure this is a great place to work!
Why Utah? You've got to see it to believe it! Utah is an amazing state with diverse geography, an eclectic culture, and an exceptional quality of life. We are located north of Salt Lake City at the foot of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. The area offers an incredible range of outdoors pursuits across the seasons including hiking, climbing, hunting, fishing, camping, boating and world-class skiing at resorts that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, and will do so again in 2032. The state is home to five amazing National Parks and an easy drive from two more; Grand Teton and, famously, the first National Park in the world, Yellowstone. The Salt Lake City area offers a vast array of cultural activities and businesses including multiple professional sports teams. It is a western states hub for exceptional, cutting-edge medical care with people traveling from across the region for a range of nationally renowned specialty care centers and doctors. The Salt Lake International Airport is expanding and offers easy, direct access to just about anywhere you want to fly.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team within a large defense company with an extraordinary, positive culture and mission focus. In this position, you will provide direct support to a national security-critical weapon system through engineering development, deployment, and sustainment activities. You will help shape the quality and performance of engineering and technical products from several hundred personnel supporting the Government, and you will help educate and equip the Government to acquire, operate, and maintain an entire weapon system-of-systems. You will become a trusted mission partner to innovative, digital engineering-driven Air and Space Force organizations that are responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and sustaining the world's safest, most secure, and effective land-based nuclear deterrent and other national security capabilities. Do not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
The Role
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Project Manager accountable to the Enduring Launch program lead for all assigned tasks. You will join a focused and dedicated team charged with supporting the acquisition and development of advanced capabilities for the Futures Division. This position will provide acquisition project management and integration, specifically in the areas of:
  • Requirements Management: Supporting the development and management of program requirements, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  • Risk Management: Integrating, managing, and aligning program risks to ensure successful execution.
  • Schedule Management: Maintaining integrated program schedules, tracking progress, and identifying potential delays.
  • Financial Management: Supporting the management of program budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost control.
  • Experimental Flight Test Support: Contributing to the planning, execution, and analysis of experimental flight tests.
This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively interface with government stakeholders, engineering teams, and other program partners.
Who You Are
An experienced project manager with a strong interest in aerospace systems and a proven ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment. You must possess high energy and be comfortable working with evolving priorities. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following:
  • Excellent cognitive, communication (both written and spoken), and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.
  • A customer-oriented approach, proactively anticipating customer needs and striving to exceed expectations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within small to medium-sized teams.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, prioritizing successful project outcomes over individual recognition.
  • Demonstrated self-discipline to plan and prioritize work effectively, delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Experience with requirements development and management, risk management, schedule management, and financial management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for contributing to the advancement of strategic capabilities.
