Job description

DESCRIPTION

The Director, Commerce Media is responsible building and creating integrated retail and paid media strategies for our clients, with a focus on driving measurable business outcomes across onsite retail media, offsite retail media, paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, CTV, and other performance-driven channels. The Director will partner with clients, internal media teams, account leads, creative teams, analytics partners, and retail media networks to develop strategic media plans that support client objectives, strengthen commerce performance, and connect brand engagement to conversion. This role will guide channel strategy, audience planning, budget allocation, measurement frameworks, reporting, optimization, and thought leadership across the evolving commerce media landscape. As a leader, this role will help shape Product Connections commerce media practice by developing best practices, mentoring media team members, identifying innovation opportunities, and translating marketplace trends into actionable recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated commerce media strategies across retail media, paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, CTV/OTT, and emerging media channels to drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Serve as the senior strategic advisor to clients, translating business objectives into full-funnel media plans, investment strategies, audience approaches, and performance frameworks.
  • Own paid media strategy and investment planning across search, social, programmatic, video, CTV/OTT, display, and retail media ecosystems, ensuring media investments are aligned to client objectives and business goals.
  • Lead cross-channel budget allocation, forecasting, pacing, optimization, and performance management to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and return on media investment.
  • Lead retail media strategy across key retailer ecosystems and media networks, including onsite and offsite activation opportunities that drive shopper engagement, incremental sales, and brand growth.
  • Establish measurement frameworks, KPIs, and reporting standards that connect media performance to business outcomes, delivering actionable insights and strategic recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation through audience strategy, testing programs, emerging technologies, AI-driven solutions, and new media opportunities that improve campaign effectiveness and accelerate client growth.
  • Lead executive-level presentations, quarterly business reviews, annual planning sessions, and strategic media discussions with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a thought leader in commerce media, retail media, and performance marketing by developing thought leadership materials, industry insights, strategic recommendations, and best practices that strengthen agency expertise and client partnerships.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing media team by establishing standards, fostering professional development, and ensuring excellence in planning, execution, optimization, reporting, and client service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications-Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory/management experience

Minimum Qualifications-Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in Retailer Media, Retail Commerce Media, or Shopper Marketing.
  • Oversee team working with partners and vendors guaranteeing 100% compliance and excellence in execution.
  • Confident presenter and clear, persuasive communicator (verbal and written) of complex data/details
  • Deep understanding of both onsite and offsite retail media, including sponsored search, sponsored display, retailer DSPs, audience extension, offsite activation, and closed-loop measurement.
  • Strong working knowledge of paid media channels, including paid search, paid social, programmatic display, online video, CTV/OTT, and performance marketing strategies.
  • Experience developing integrated media strategies that balance retailer priorities, brand objectives, audience insights, and business goals.
  • Proven ability to build and present executive-level reporting that translates complex performance data into clear business recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of commerce media KPIs, including ROAS, sales lift, conversion rate, CPC, CPM, CTR, reach, frequency, share of search, incrementality, and attribution.
  • Experience leveraging media platforms and tools such as Pacvue, Skai, Walmart Connect, Roundel, Costco Velocity, Amazon Ads, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and other industry-leading solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading client relationships, influencing senior stakeholders, and presenting strategic recommendations to executive audiences.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience developing high-performing teams, establishing best practices, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends while translating them into actionable strategies that drive growth for clients and the agency.
