Job Duties/Technical Skills
  • Understand and follow the company values and Quality policy

  • Ensures all employees are following the safety policies

  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and follow HR policies and procedures.

  • May give verbal input regarding employee performance during employee review process

  • May lead small projects

  • Complete proper documentation for safety environmental incidents

  • Completes all required data entry & documentation in Maintenance software

  • Attend meetings as needed

  • Distribute department work orders

  • Proficient in operating a wide variety of tools and instruments such as micrometers, calipers, voltmeters and other metrology gauges; hand tools, power tools, computers, machine shop equipment, etc.)

  • Advise Supervisor of problems, make suggestions and repairs as needed, provide feedback regarding PMs with details to reduce and minimize downtime of all manufacturing and facilities equipment, to develop a predictive and proactive plan

  • Works to improve equipment effectiveness through meantime failure analysis, root cause analysis and general troubleshooting, by maintaining the operation maintenance system (CMMS)

  • Provides and guides lower level technicians to do an effective preventive maintenance work for equipment and or facility in accordance with the manufacturers and or engineering guidelines.

  • Identify and anticipate major repairs, replacements and to insure improved and continuous operations are taking place on a timely manner

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, conveyors, and programmable controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI).

  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, variable frequency drives and position sensing devices (servo sensor)

  • Maintains and improves electrical infrastructure main distribution, sub panels, transformers and remote wiring for production machines.

  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components such as circuit boards.

  • Diagnoses and replaces defective mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.

  • Performs service calls and ability to prioritize emergency breakdowns.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and under limited supervision

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Advance knowledge with photo eyes, sensors, encoders and limit switches

  • Expert knowledge in Electro-pneumatic systems, PID controllers and computer-based programs

  • Advance knowledge to maintain and repair laser date code equipment

  • Expert knowledge of all plant machinery, including controls and subsystems; can operate machinery to produce a Trojan product or component

  • Performs machinery and equipment examinations to troubleshoot for defects in operation

  • Programs and troubleshoots Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and control wiring to determine problems for equipment by using ladder logic and other tools to do analysis

  • Able to work on Robots:

  • Diagnose robot mechanical problems

  • Review mechanical components on the robot

  • Perform adjustments on the robot

  • Perform periodic maintenance on the mechanical unit

  • Replace mechanical/electrical components on the robot

  • Proficient working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Prepare reports on improving operations

  • Able to work overtime hours, weekends and rotational shifts

  • Ability to communicate with equipment manufactures to troubleshoot and solve issues during working hours

  • Proficient in Ohm's Law (Electrical formulas and equations) and NEC (National Electric Code)

  • Will be required to fill in for Supervisor as needed and demonstrate leadership qualities

  • Be able to train lower level partners in all aspects of maintenance, safety, quality and production expectations

  • Understands and practices the concept of Customer Service as it relates to an internal customer

  • Must have and teach interpersonal skills and leads and drives teamwork culture

  • Follow and maintain Lean activities

  • Must complete CPI Training (methodology). Assist with training as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Safety Requirements
  • Comply with Blood Lead Health and Hygiene Protocols

  • Understand and comply with correct lifting procedures which enable lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Comply with Hazard communication procedures

  • Must follow ergonomic recommendations and safety procedures

  • Technician must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that consist of the following:

  • Safety Glasses

  • Face shield (when required)

  • Full or half face respirator

  • Ear Protection (when required)

  • Use of two-way Radios

  • Uniform (company issue)

  • Surgeons Cap (disposable)

  • Gloves (different kinds)

  • Steel Toe Shoes

  • Steel Toe Robber Boots (when working with Acid)

  • PVC suit (when working with Acid)

  • High Temp garments

  • LOTO

Potential Hazards (mitigated by following all safety procedures - apply to all levels
  • Possible mechanical hazards if employee removes or bypass any guard(s)

  • Operators must follow the Lockout/Tagout instructions prior to bypassing a guard

  • Possible burns, contusions, scrapes, falls, pinch points, amputations, electrical shocks

  • Operator must ensure that ventilation is in proper working condition and wear proper PPE

  • Possible Heat Hazards, electrical hazards or Lead dust exposure when troubleshooting equipment

  • Operator must wear proper PPE, Lockout/Tagout procedures and use proper tooling and designated instruments

  • Possible fall hazard, collisions with elevated objects, contusions, may encounter wet surfaces (oil, water, acid) which may result in skidding, slipping, etc.

  • Operator must follow aerial platform safety procedures, wear proper PPE, be aware of his/her surroundings, follow forklift safety procedures, etc.

  • Possible lead dust exposure when trouble shooting equipment

  • Must make sure ventilation is in proper working condition and must wear proper PPE

  • Possible exposure to solvent vapors when cleaning machine parts and water and/or solvent splash and debris

  • Exposure to 90% sulfuric acid while working in the acid farm or in areas where the acid is present

  • Must follow Lockout/Tagout procedures when applicable and wear the correct PPE, PVC suit

Basic Skills (Reading, Writing, Math, Communication)
  • Must be Proficient in English (reading and writing), bilingual preferred (Spanish)

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

  • Read/follow blueprints, and draw simple schematics

  • Strong troubleshooting skills on mechanical, hydraulics, electrical and pneumatics

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to react in an efficient timely manner with a customer service attitude

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Performs basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

  • Strong computer skills, with proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word

  • Completes all required data entry & documentation in Maintenance software

  • Follow equipment specifications

  • Follow TBC product requirements and specifications

Experience
  • AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance (preferred). Certificates or degrees as an Electrician / Mechanic or equivalent (Manager's discretion)

  • 5+ years' experience in an industrial maintenance environment and 5 + years proven Experience with PLC and HMI Hardware/Software (Allen Bradley preferred), Variable speed drivers, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
