Job description

Our CareMed Specialty Pharmacy in New Hyde Park, NY has a need for a Pharmacy Technician - Program Support Coordinator. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 9:30a-6p EST. Excellent opportunity to join our company and help with our expanding Specialty Pharmacy program! We offer quarterly incentive bonuses as well as a $500 bonus for technicians to obtain their CPhT and/or CPhT-ADV credentials. Come and grow with us! Remote work possible after initial on-site training.
We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician who has insurance verification experience, understands the prior authorization process, and/or has a background in a medical/healthcare setting.
Starting pay $26/HR and up
Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 for employees starting before September, 30 2026.

Pharmacy Technician - Program Support Coordinator Essential Functions:
  • Receives and coordinates all program referrals and performs the following activities (but not limited to): savings card activation; insurance verification; test claims, prescription billing and billing error resolution; prior authorization assistance; customer service.
  • Serves as primary contact for receiving phone calls from patients and physicians.
  • Responsible for identifying and forwarding phone calls that are clinical in nature (e.g., dosing directions, adverse events, counseling, etc.) to Staff Pharmacists.
  • Documents and meticulously makes notations in each patient’s profile regarding every update and aspect of patients’ care or physicians’ needs.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling customer complaints received, while documenting and forwarding to appropriate team members.
  • Ensures that all prescriptions are billed in accordance with Medicare/DMEPOS, federal, state, and local regulations and laws.
  • Communicates with Department Supervisor and/or Program Director on noteworthy program updates or obstacles.
  • Must exhibit excellent skills in the following areas: verbal/written communication, computer/data entry/software proficiency, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, self-discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be a team player willing to accept and promote organizational goals and function with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to be depended upon to plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion.
  • Must meet all productivity requirements in expected time frame or deadline.
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative and strive to continually improve processes and relationships.
Pharmacy Technician - Program Support Coordinator. Knowledge, Skills amp; Abilities:
  • Associates Degree OR equivalent program from a two-year college or technical school, or certificate program in pharmacy and/or healthcare field, preferred.
  • Licensed with the state Board of Pharmacy, PTCB certification preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ pharmacy experience required; retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Superior level of customer service as well as understanding the department operations.
  • Must be familiar with general pharmacy terminology, billing quantity, SIG codes, roman numerals, brand and generic names of medications, and IV dosage calculations/day supply.
  • Proficient in data entry, verbal skills, computer skills and the ability to learn the department’s software system.
