Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Intermediate level Project Manager in Russell, Manitoba supporting a project in the Food & Agri industry.

As a member of Wood's Project Management team the selected candidate will be responsible for engineering and construction at the worksite. The Project Manager will be seconded into the Client's organization and will be working directly under the supervision of the Client.

Some of the duties anticipated for the Project Manger are as follows:

  • As a seconded member into the client's organization, integrate with the client's team, planning and executing projects on their behalf
  • Enforce Safety, Health, Environment, and Security requirements with project team members including Construction Contractors and Vendors
  • Accountable for Safety, Scope, Cost and Schedule. Ensure project objectives are met
  • Manage both internal and external project stakeholders and ensure important, relevant information is communicated regularly to all stakeholders
  • Provide regular progress reports to the client
  • Proactively anticipate, identify, and resolve project-related risks, conflicts, difficulties or problems
  • Lead the project team, ensuring everyone is working together and meeting the project objectives
  • Leads the Front End Loading (FEL) project development phases.
  • Prepare and present decision support package deliverables (DSP's) for project reviews, gate meetings and project approval
  • Lead engineering reviews with operations and management
  • Main interface with engineering ensuring that each fulfill their scope-of-work
    • Ensure issues are resolved and timely delivery
    • Ensure documents are reviewed by client personnel where required prior to getting issued for use
  • Establish baseline budget and schedule. Provide regular forecast updates and resolvesย issues as they arise.
  • Manage the Change Control Process for scope, schedule, and budget changes
  • Approve or endorse Change Requests from engineering consultants, site contractors and materials / equipment vendors
  • Review and approves purchase requisitions, contracts, and invoices
  • Provide leadership for engineering activities and ensure the integrity of the project's engineering scope
  • Ensure that Lessons Learned Reviews are conducted
Skills / Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant technical discipline is highly desirable, but not essential if the candidate can demonstrate the right level of experience in managing projects (project management, technical and construction)
  • 8+ years of experience managing industrial projects. Food and Agri industry experience is an asset, but not essential
  • Experience with EPC and/or EPCM project delivery
  • Experience should include proven examples of the candidate's ability to lead teams to deliver projects and contractual obligations on time and schedule
  • Experience with Front End Loading (FEL) project development and preparation of decision support packages deliverables (DSP's) is essential
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel an Power Point. Knowledge of Microsoft Project is considered an asset, but not essential
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Could be eligible for a Living Out Allowance
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Leadership and team alignment
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
