Job description

The Outreach Specialist coordinates initiatives to develop awareness, health promotion, and mobilize communities using resources. The Outreach Specialist also administers organizational programs aimed at addressing the needs of the surrounding area, develops relationships with community leaders, and serves as the organization's liaison with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • develop outreach and educational programs tailored for the community being served, complete training for topic expertise and collaborative research
  • participate in planning, piloting, and implementation of community outreach strategies
  • provides information and referral to program participants community residents, and stakeholders
  • develop technological strategies for mobilizing community
  • compile statistics and maintains records of program participants
  • conduct targeted outreach to the community, families, and other stakeholders under the direction of the Program Coordinator
  • work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and/or designee to develop outreach strategies
  • formulate, direct, and coordinate program outreach activities and policies to promote health awareness and community resources
  • inform the community about the goals and objectives of health promotion, healthy choices, and health outcomes for program
  • conduct promotional events and campaigns designed to recruit program participants
  • plan and facilitate meetings for Community Advisory Board and/or stakeholders
  • participate in evaluation activities
  • perform other duties as assigned

The requirements for the Outreach Specialist position are:

  • experience in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
  • demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication
  • knowledgeable of health and human service agencies in the community as well as the services provided by those agencies
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, health and human service agencies, and the general public
  • proficient in the use of computer software, with special emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • self-directed and capable of completing projects on time.
